3000 hp sync start 4160 volt it powers a 13x36 ball mill which is just a big cylinder that turns but it weights in at close to 800,000 fully loaded

What does that motor power and what's the dimensions on it?

Prob around 3k HP at 600 or 900 rpm. They are about 12 feet tall just guessing that not my post but I've tore several down and rewound them. Stand by for a few pics.

Thanks for the info. Wife's family was in electric motor repair business for 50+ years. Was going to tell her Grandpa about that setup so wanted some additional info.

How much winding went into that setup?

Sorry don't have many on this phone. However this is one of the biggest I did. Around 10k HP. The biggest HP and voltage I did was 13khp and the voltage was 13,800. It's was over 1.5 mil to rewind just the stator.

Man to be honest I couldn't tell you. We rewound the rotors and stators on the sync motors. There not as expensive as some of the high voltage jobs or the huge dc motors. The coils in the 13k HP motor I mentioned was 125k that was our cost. It took us 3 weeks working 24/7 to wind just the stator. It was a cool job just not cool pay. Lol. I just left that company to be a mech at the local paper mill. I will dig some pics up, but I think I posted some in this thread throughout the years.

Tampa Armature Works(TAW) I was in the Macon location. I just left a week ago. However I will tell you they have their stuff together and are updating equipment monthly. You prob know how old most motor shops are. They are the biggest in GA and are shooting to take over the Southeast.

Northwest Alabama we ended up using Louis Allis out of Birmingham they have a solid setup and keep probably 30 large motors in stock for emergency swap outs

They have been by our plant looking for business we use a place out of Nashville for everything 500 Hp and up.
Biggest DC motor we have is 1500 Hp, AC is 800 Hp
