My biggest thing was the cop was shouting all those crazy commands and threats and dude was trying to be compliant. there were also two cops one couldn't have covered while the other cuffed him? Like I said normally I'm on the cops side but this one the cop should have been charged with murder. But devil's advocate don't get in situations where you've got cops drawing on you and you wont get shot.

I don't care if he said to quack like a duck, drunk or not, if I have my gun in my hand and you reach towards your pocket, odds are that you will get hurt

He wasn't doing anything wrong. Someone saw him showing those 2 girls a pellet gun in his hotel room. It's not illegal to own or handle firearms or air guns. It's actually a protected right in this country. Then he comes out of his hotel room and follows every command they give him and when he tries to figure out how to crawl with his legs crossed while his hands are supposed to be in the air he ****s up by thinking maybe he could pull his pants up because they're falling down and he gets blown away. His biggest mistake was trying to listen to the cops and hindsight being 20/20 He shouldve stayed spread eagle where he was and told the cops they had to come to him. But I'm sure he had no idea they were gonna shoot him. The cop who was yelling all the orders has since retired and moved to the Philippines. That don't make things look any better.

That's some bull****. I understand cops being in hairy situations at times, but this guy sounds like he's had a wet dream about icing someone in the line of duty. You'd be bat**** crazy to think that there aren't fawkers out there with that mentality that join up with law enforcement.

X1000. That cop was the biggest asshole I've ever heard, it's a shame a innocent man gets murdered for being drunk, you can clearly hear that guy crying, he was scared to death, that many cops within 10 yards and ya can't handle 1 drunk guy? Damn shame, I'm 100% for the blue but wrong is wrong

That cop was the the little *** that got picked on in school, and became a cop to get back at society, there was no reason to shoot that guy.

They didn't even let the jury see the bodycam video. It was conveniently released after he was acquitted. I have no problem with cops putting ****heads in their place but this guy was a little too gung ho.

The guy was in pest control. Was staying at the hotel for work and was showing some folks his bb guns he uses. Other people chilling in a hot tub just saw a dude with a rifle in his hotel window and called the cops. The crazy part is this all happened waaay before the vegas shooting. Poor guy also had a wife and 2 young kids.

Did anyone else notice that they kept saying he was in room 502. I heard them mention that a few times. But when the dumb ass cop was trying to open the door he was trying room 503. Just imagine the guy they murdered in my opinion already said no one else was in the room. The cops are already scared and pumped up. They open the wrong door and another innocent person happens to be standing there. Odds are they would have been shot too.

They could have 100% handled the situation differently but if an officer says if you reach behind your back again I will kill you I'm not gonna reach down again if I crawl into a bear trap. It's a ****ty situation and they should have cuffed him while he was laying down but if I were a cop and I thought you had a gun in your room and you reached for what I thought could be a weapon I would smoke your ass

Yup....we're not talking about getting an answer wrong on Jeopardy, we're talking about DEATH. Until they replace cops with robots, the cops will always be in a "woulda / coulda / shoulda" state of mind.

I've had a police man point a gun to me and tell me to lay on the ****in hood. By God I did even though that hood was hott'ern **** and was burning my cheek, I did what he said WHILE telling him the hood is ****ing hot.

Let's say the guy was a whack job terrorist and had enough exsolos Ives in his room to level the hotel. Men women children Mr patel at the front desk all vaporized instantly. The detonator was in his back pocket and they shot him reaching for it. Everyone would be on here today praising the cop with the itchy trigger finger. The cops didn't know the difference at the time.

Agreed. A terrible situation to be in, but it is what it is. Risk analysis is a big part of my job, so although I may seem pessimistic at times, it's how I avoid(as best I can) having to make pivotal decisions like that.

True but like others said, they had plenty of other opportunities to cuff him. If I'm a cop and have a warrant for you, I'm not going to call and tell you to come down to the station, I'm going to you. I don't know what the point was of telling him to crawl that extra 8'.

Supposedly the cop had other complaints about being to aggressive with people. I can't find it to be fact but it's been in the comments on the videos but it's on the internet must be true right?

"deputies shall use only that force that is REASONABLY necessary to effectively bring an incident under control while protecting the lives of the officer and others."
or better explained ..... what another officer or person would have done in the same or similar situation at that time.
Officer was stressed (jacked up on adrenaline) probably had lessened hearing capability, tunnel vision etc.
Right or wrong he did what he thought was correct at that moment. Now all arm chair quarterbacks can say "damn that was not the right thing to do" Everybody I know said it while watching the video, but put your self in his spot. Bad situation and it sucks.

There is one thing that is for sure.....the family will sue and will probably win a civil suit, probably won't get much money and definitely won't replace the husband/father/son/brother that was killed.
Someone else said this in this thread and it's very good advice......If the police tell you to do something just do it, you may lose some dignity but you probably will be alive. If they tell you to do while they have their gun pointed at you DO IT. Rant Off!

If you were drunk and put in this shocking situation would you have all ur faculties about you with that officer screaming 10 different orders at you? It's a very sad situation and I hope his family gets millions, **** ass scum bags get money all the time for police brutality cases, no way you can honestly defend that cops actions

Your wife calls you and says a guy is waving a gun around in your yard. You go out and draw a weapon on him and start yelling at him. He is acting sketchy and confused and keeps reaching behind his back. You tell him if he does it again you will protect yourself. He goes quick and reaches behind his back so you empty the gun to stop the threat. Afterwards you realize it was a pellet gun and he was just trying to pull his pants up. You were told he had a gun and saw him as a threat. If you waited to see the gun he would get at least 1 shot off. Would it be worth him shooting your wife or you to make sure he actually had the gun? Now the way it was handled up until that point was bad but I think the cop pulling the trigger was self defense. The situation could have been avoided but I honestly think the officer thought he had a weapon and was protecting himself and fellow officers.
