Alex? He's made a believer outa me with those things too!

Yall boys keep in mind JD has a FJ 80 front, a whole lot beefier than a 8'' toy axle! but you get those tires in a bad bind! **** gonna break! That ride was Mo's first run with 1 tons in a toyota truck with a 4cyl. and he broke a stock 14 bolt axle!

What did he break in a 14 bolt with 105 horsepower?

No he broke a 30 spline factory rear 60 axle. Yota rear AXLES are beefier than a stock 60

This is pretty much true. Also I believe a Fj80 Longfield axle shaft is way stronger than a chromo 30 spline 60 front fwiw

Re:

I wish I woulda gone 14B stock 60 shafts snap. Upgrading to 35 chromo like I've always ran without problems

That part that Josh broke on the FJ80 axle is actually quite a bit smaller... FJ80s are 24 coarse spline at the birf.

Yeah, his were chromo, but they are still a small axle out at the birf.

Yes, the FJ80 birf is much bigger and stronger than a FJ40/60/Pickup birf, but unless you have one of the very few unicorn 30 spline FJ80 birf sets that Longfield sold right before he died, then the axle shafts aren't any stronger than a mini truck axle...

I beat on a 60 rear and front and haven't broken anything in the rear yet. Damn sure like the extra ground clearance over my 14b in my buggy. I've popped a couple Stubbs in both my fronts but all in all a box stock 60 is strong as ****. Anything less you have to chromo to get it to hold up. I don't run chromoly axles and I do anything and everything windrock and harlan have to offer.

Well By gawd! Im goin to find me a set of Plymouth slant 6 axles to put under my junk! never heard anything bad about them! :****:

I think RCV sells a 30 spline FJ80 axle kit now too. I was wondering about that. What exactly does it take to convert to it? I think it says something like Big 24/30 spline. Is the splines that go into the carrier still 24 spline and then the shaft maintains a solid big diameter all the way to the birf splines (which are 30 spline?), instead of necking down to a smaller diameter like mine, and then the splines on the stub shaft are 30 spline too? or are they 24? If they are 30, where do you find an aftermarket 30 spline drive flange, I've never seen an aftermarket fj80 flange.

splines at diff are 30 spline already, on all 8" Toyota diffs. All stub shafts are 30 spline also, all straight axle drive flanges and hubs are 30 spline.

The only difference was inside the birf.

Mini truck is 27 spline (fine spline)

FJ80 is a big 24 spline (large diameter, coarse spline)

The "30 spline" Longfields have 30 spline at the birf also

Here is the only FJ80 axles that RCV has on their website http://www.rcvperformance.com/product-details.aspx?sku=CVJ2474-P-RCV
They are 30 at the diff and stub, and 24 at the birf (just like stock)

This clears up my curiosity. I was racking my brain on what all was different with the 30 spline axles for fj80. When ya don't know, ya don't know....so figured I'd ask. I also didn't know about the fine/course thread difference between mini's and fj80's.

Now thems some tars right there!!

Another tractor it's size and a 650 dozer wouldn't move it so I'm on my way now with a backhoe and some shovels to start digging.
