Damn, they even gave you toes. You should get a really big one to make sasquatch footprints in the woods

Re:

Yeah they make one that has a gap in between the big toe and it's neighbor so one could wear flip flops, but then you have to incorporate some velcro or other forms of adhesion. Not necessary for my application. I wore flip flops a lot before, but don't give two ****s about em now. I have some cool Keen water sandals with backstraps if the need arises.

Couldn't you just take a dremel to it if you wanted? What's it made out of?

Yeah, but it may compromise some of it's rigidity. It's a hollow hard rubber shell, and the toes flex a little when I walk on it. Got some good cracks on the bottom of this one, it's had a rough 5 years, probably about time for a new foot shell.

I see. I've always wondered, if I strapped one on my knee would it be similar? Like, I'm not sure how to word it but seems like it would be a heck of balancing act.

I'm actually quite agile on mine, but I have got my other leg to help maintain stability and I still have my knee on prosthetic side. Above the knee amputees have it much worse and bilateral (both legs) even worse. I'm the best case scenario amputee lol.

You couldn't really just strap one on, they are each made uniquely to fit it's person. The socket of the leg is formed around the shape of one's stump. They can either be held on by vacuum (highest performance), suction, or like mine - pin lock, which is kinda mid grade performance. I roll a thick silicon liner on my nub, that's about 12" long and goes up past my knee, and it has a steel cup sewn in the end of it with a notched pin sticking out the end. When I step down into my prosthesis, it has a ratcheting mechanism the pin goes down in and locks, until I press the lock release button and it just slides right of. Not as high performance as some, but it's primitive in maintenance compared to the other types. I had an elevated vaccum leg and it was a lot to keep up with, had a remote fob to keep up with to set the vacuum psi, and had to charge the li ion battery every night. Even more trouble going on trips, keeping up with that damn fob and the charger. I had a vaccum related injury one time with it and ended up opting for the more simple pin lock system. It works just fine for me.

Our future,,,,,,,

This boy was an absolute STUD as a running back, we played freshman football together. He was cut 3/4 of the way through the season for grades and truancy. Started hanging out with the idiots in the projects (he did not live anywhere near there) and developed that hood ass mentality. Damn shame too, he had the kind of Derrick Henry talent and size, and the coaches bent over backwards to help and mentor him. ::)

Re:

We had a player like that when I was in high school...Travis Cowart.

Us lil white boy freshman would sit around at lunch and be like "it's gonna be sweet playing Tecmo Bowl as Travis in a few years!"

Drugs....burglary....knocked up *****es later....he's just an below Joe schmoe.

Wow, I never knew they got that complex. I know if it were me, I'd be working on a terminator prosthesis.

I bet he couldn't write his name. I remember him at track meets. No form never seen a high jump pit, but cleared like 6' 5". But then coaches would have to hold his hand and take him to next event.

As the crow flies I was only a couple miles from my house. Ended up sitting there for 3 hours so I could've made it home if I wanted to. Instead I sat there and got paid.

Most above knee prostheses look like terminator legs! Lol

Above knee leg, they cost about twice as much as mine because of the microprocessor knee joint.

Here is a video of when I first got mine.

I was thinking something more along the lines of this.

Though it's probably not too practical. Adam from Mythbusters has a full size terminator skeleton. I bet he'd be down to make someone a part.

Said goodbye to our house of 12 years today. On to the next one...time to downsize.
