He's right. We are the biggest electric motor shop in GA. One of the biggest in the Southeast. That motor above is from a cement plant. It's nameplate is rated 3,000hp@ 900 rpm@ 4,000 volts. The dyno we use is good for 8,000+ HP. However our power panel in the building is our limiting factor. We're waiting on an upgrade and once that happens we'll have to do the 1,000+HP motors at night or we'll overload the power in town. So I'm told. I've built a 12,000 HP motor. We do cool stuff just wish the pay was a little better.

Cool, we send a lot of our motors to Integrated Power Services in Rock Hill. I've been there a couple times to witness the rebuild and check the vibration probes and internal connections for the bearing and winding RTDs as it's re-assembled.

I think the biggest motor we've sent there was a 1500 HP. We've got several 3000 HP, and one 3500 HP in the plant but it's easier to just rebuild them in place. With all of the covers and air intake housing in place our 3000 HP motors are damn near the size of small house. I can only imagine the size of that 12000 HP!

Actually the 12k wasn't that big. I forget the RPM but it wasn't a slow motor. Most big(huge) motors are slow and have huge shafts. We do field rebuilds as well. I'm not familiar with the IPS in rock hill but I've had to clean up after the one in Birmingham.

Yeah all of our big motors are turning big 4 stage compressors moving pretty slow.

What's the name of your company? I'm just a low level flunkie, aka the guy that does the work lol, but I can try to pass it along.

My old service truck I used to drive when I was a milwright. This thing was the cats ass. If I ever hit the lottery I'd go buy it for a towrig. You could haul enough stuff and it had enough tools you could build a buggy on site.
