On the left - my Kawasaki

On the right - coworker's Harley

Difference? ...about $10k. It's not that I'm anti Harley, it's that I don't see $10k difference in this picture.

Also, I could spend about $3,500 and my bike would look like this....and still have $6-7k less in it than I would have in a used Street Glide.

The Harley look badass.

****, I know more people that'd give $6,000 for a clean Kawi like mine than $15k for a Street Glide. :****:

More people will give you 6k for the Kawasaki cause it's 9k cheaper than the harley. I had a Victory, great bike. Still not a harley. You want notice a difference until you go to sell it. Then you have to hear that quote every time someone calls about it. I doubt I ever get another street bike but if I did it would be a harley.

Here is mine, but have not ridden it in about 3 years.

This picture is from 2000, but not much has changed.

Good looking bike John. I personally like bikes like yours more than the ones with all the bags and fairing on them.

Exactly. To me, the term 'resale value' has market value factored in. I bet I could sell my Kawasaki just as easily as I could a $15k Harley. I've already had two Non-Harley Yamaha's and had no problem selling them. Resale value on motorcycles based on brand isn't like most things, because the quality and performance is there in all of them across the board. Now an ugly or poorly cared for bike is different. All brands (including Harley) at some point in time or even in the present, make or has made an ugly bike - or somebody has took a clean looking bike and added things that make it super ugly to the eyes of the buyer market. It's hard to sell an ugly bike. Mine is not ugly, so therefore it has great resale value / low miles and clean, so it will be very marketable.

First Yamaha Warrior I had, I rode it for 8 months, never changed the oil in it or anything, and sold it for $300 more than what I gave for it. The 2nd Warrior, I sold for exactly what I had in it minus an oil change, and a battery, and owned it for a year. Put a set of tires on it, but I sold some gay looking accessories off of it as soon as I got it that paid for a new set of tires.

Again, I'm not anti Harley, I actually think there's not a better looking factory bagger out than a Street Glide, but it'd be hard for me to actually pay what it costs to have one over something like my Nomad or the step up from mine - the Vulcan Vaquero 1700. Pics below

While the Harley culture is strong, the Jap bike market is just as strong. Less and less people are giving a **** about paying nearly double the price for being made in America. I read a long article on this very topic not too long ago, but can't remember where it was.

Saw JohnG's bike in person, looks like it went straight off the showroom, to his basement. Lol

Here is the Vulcan Vaquero, I like them a lot.

DOOOOOD!!! What is that little sprint car there??? drool

It is a Honda Odyssey, we raced them for almost ten years. Quit when Davie Allison died, we were huge fans and even though not race related, gave us a reality check on how fast things could go wrong. All that was required to be Odyssey was the bottom end of motor, transmission, and steering wheel with hand controls. Engine was 250cc and dynoed at 58 HP. Started out on TT style tracks then progressed to dirt ovals. Ran Talladega, AL (Friday), Columbus, MS (Saturday), then Montgomery, AL (Sunday), most weekends if did not break. Wife ran in the 350cc class, and I ran in the faster 250cc class. Good times in the early 80s. Raced with the Monster Trucks in Birmingham and Montgomery a couple of times as half time show. Also did the car show circuit of Huntsville, Birmingham, Shreveport, and Montgomery with it during the off season. Last time it was cranked was in the snow of 1993.

Hardest part of it being in the basement is all I have access is a 36" door. Had to be disassembled outside and rebuilt inside the basement.

The brothers have gotten into Harley's, mainly street glides, and they build some slick bikes. All of my top 5 favorite street glides were built by brothers.

That's a big part of the problem today! Being made in America means everything to me!!!! I wish we had more made in America options today

I'd sell the Polaris before I'd sell the bike! But I ain't selling either of them, baby or no baby. Hell I could nearly buy a nice street glide for what I've got in that damn Polaris molaugh

**** changes when that baby comes. You done handed her your balls for some :cougar: flashemifyougotem if she wants to sell the bike or SXS she will :****:
