I despise text book algebra. Real life applications not so bad but meaningless practice.....

No doubt! This is my last math class, College Algebra & Pre-Calculus. It's not hard, just a ton of work when compressed into a 2 month summer class.

I hated math in school, never went to college, but have seen some of the questions and such in my sons school books and in this post. But explain where in real world life that this is used. It's not a sarcastic remark, I've just never understood where you use it.

Algebra is not a big deal for me. Calculus sucks ****. ****! :gay:
I liked algebra and when I could motivate myself to get into it I loved the challenge of calculus. I actually almost failed high school because of not having enough elective courses. My final elective credit was calculus and I slept through it. Still not sure why I took calculus as an elective when I knew my major in college was going to be Swine Production.

Re:

It's not that you just sit around and do math problems, but you have to know how to set up equations with variables and such to calculate things for a desired outcome.

There are careers like Engineers and such that use complex math on the reg....but mainly for my Business Degree, it's just required to hone critical thinking and organizational skills. An Engineering degree would require me to take Math 113, Calculus 1, 2, and 3, Differential Equations, and then Linear Algebra....and that's not counting the use of complex math in all the Natural Science classes like Physics and whatever else is required when you get to the 4 year level. An Associatess in Engineering is worthless, pretty much same as an Associates in Math. The core Engineering stuff kicks in when you start your Junior and Senior year.

I should be done with my Associates in Business Degree by the end of next year. Then I might be on to Jacksonville State to finish my bachelors in Business, near Choccolocco. Gonna suck driving hour and 15 minutes back and forth every week when I have campus classes.

Your fireworks got me thinking about how lame our laws are up here. Nothing that blows up or flies up. That being said, the biggest I could get my hands on this year was 300 gram morters. You guys got anything bigger down there?

Not so much these days. I imagine having more responsibilities would lend my mindset to being no fun at all.

I've heard and read some interesting stuff on psychedelics lately. Sounds like they can actually be extremely beneficial to some people.

Pretty much every fireworks stand around here has whistling bungholes, spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters ... cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, and whistling kitty chasers.
