Have to replace too much of the door jam to do it that way, easier to order these "slip-on" rockers and cab corners and cut to fit. These rockers are identical to factory, he cut out everything plus some that was rusty, then trimmed the new pieces to fit back in there. On the side that is already done and primed, there wasn't much of the cab corner that was rusty, so he only replaced a small spot instead of using the whole new cab corner and going up higher into the body lines (less to worry about lining up).
It looks damn good, I've saw dad do some crazy **** on fixing wrecks. Cut em down the firewall and make zig zag lines across the floor pan of a car hit in the rear, take another hit in the front, make the exact same cuts by eyeballing it, put the two good halves of the car back together, and after he gets it done, every door will shut like it was new and every crack will line up perfectly. He missed a golden opportunity at a career, he should have been doing this working for himself a long time ago and establishing a business. He worked for himself for 30 years buying and selling wrecks, he'd fix one every now and then, but mostly just sell them wrecked. With internet bidding and foreigners giving insane prices for wrecks, he couldn't make any money doing that anymore and went back to doing bodywork. He has a talent for that stuff. Should he had some drive and motivation early on, he'd be retired now. But we all live and learn, and he's still doing fine, cutting cars in half every day at the ripe age of 62. Lol. Hell he's in better shape than I am.
