The day I'm supoosed to go back to work I find a 2" long crack in my prosthetic socket. Its shot now, gonna have to get another one made. Also upon further inspection of the prosthetic foot, the carbon fiber is starting to splinter and crack where it bends. This one is gonna cost me. Had the foot since the beginning - 7 yrs, and had this socket about 5.5 yrs, so I guess I had a good run with them. At least they have recliners at the prosthetic doctor....

Haha I wish I did, if insurance would pay it all, I would have 2 setup for different things. But unfortunately insurance refuses to recognize a lot of what comes with being an amputee. They will pay some, but the leg is so expensive, my part is stupid high, or at least it was years ago. Maybe my insurance has changed and gotten better, but I doubt it. Lol. They are working on a quote now.

There are a few different places, I wpuld say maybe 4 within an hour drive. But I have been to two of them and the one i go to now is probably the best in the area. They are good at what they do, and are probably the biggest one so they have all the newest technology equipment. The other one here in Huntsville is supposed to be pretty good too, can't remember the name of it. If I ever have problems here at Fourroux Prosthetics, I will try the other place. But they have been pretty good to me here for over 5 years.

So the busted knuckle was just a wrap or different "cup" or what? I know nothing of them except holding yours once and what one of our below the knee customers has told me

That one ended up not working, it was a new cup, or socket as its officially called. It was made tight with low fit tolerance, but my nub fluctuates in volume depending on activity levels, so I have to have room to take a compensation sock off when my nub is bigger to free up some room and not fit so tight. That busted knuckle socket was fit to be worn with no socks and I currently wear two thick socks with the one I got now, the skull socket. So when the busted knuckle socket didn't work out, they were able to modify the old skull socket and provide a relief area around where the fibula head is and I been rocking it ever since. Getting to where I don't care about design so I probably will just go with plain carbon fiber this time. I just want it to work. Lol.

Hahaha man I essentially got a cast put on it to hold it together til I decide what I am gonna do. To replace socket only is $2800 and to replace whole leg is $4300 out of my pocket. Damn deductible and out of pocket max both went up. I used to have badass insurance, but it sucks balls now. $2100 desuctible and $4700 put of pocket max, insurance pays 85% of prosthetic care, but that doesn't matter when deductible and oopm are so damn high. What a crock of ****. Probably gonna use it the way it is for awhile.

Got my grandson a pw50 over the weekend, it's used but only gave 500 for it, he's still got 5 staples in his head but never slowed him down

and of course grandma had to ride it
