Help Support Hardline Crawlers:

Cool! I wanted something very capable, not break every 10 minutes, and have heat in winter time and can drive on road. Man, there is so much work in building one from scratch! Especially when it's your first one.
 
I been waiting on a spy pic! Looks badass man! Will have to go ride shotgun and hand you beers when you get it done. You won't know how to act not breaking by lunch time molaugh
 
I need to pay better attention, it will be a wrap of some kind! Not sure yet, may get Jessie Jackson on the hood.....
 
Wife just sent me this, she is helping Weston with his homework. 4th grade common core bull****. That is gay as fawk. All that to figure out 937x62.

**** common core. True story several years ago when my daughter started kindergarten I wrote a check for her school supplies in common core and they wouldn't take it :****:

That’s literally a graphical representation of how I would do it in my head (and most other people that can do long multiplication/division in their head), break it down to easy to handle numbers and add them up. Zeros are easy.

I don’t really see the problem with showing kids that as a way to do it. The idea is to show them a bunch of different ways to reach the same solution

Damn...didn't know 5$ rebate from 30$ headlight bulbs was such a difficult transaction. Struggle is real everywhere I guess.

I've said this for a while. They go an extra step farther than I typically do, but they're trying to teach kids how to do it in their head. I used to see all the memes on FB about how ridiculous it was and the govt was ruing our kids (Which is their intention, to program a bunch of socialist robots), but this isn't one of those instances. Now that I have a third grader doing math, even at his private Catholic school they teach this method, and it works. It is taking the long way around in the beginning, but he won't have to teach himself how to do it in his head later, it is instilled early. Agree that it is madding to add 120 + 20 like that, just line up your ones column, draw a line and write the answer. Luckily they still teach that method as well
 
Ive always done math in my head. Numbers are just patterns. Once you figure them out its easy. Ive never been good at memorizing stuff so multiplication tables can suck one

This is all good, but most still can't make change unless they can see it on the cash register. Heaven forbid giving a kid a couple extra cents after the transaction has totaled up so you don't have a pocket full of pennies or ones.

The issue I have with it is forcing kids to do every method. I agree completely that they should teach all the different methods, and have kids do homework with each. But then giving them a test and forcing them to do math in a way they don't understand if ridiculous, esp when they know the answer by solving a different way.
 
Seems everybody here learned how to figure the problems out in their head ultimately anyways, without common core methods. Is it really that necessary?

I'm not really a "if it ain't the traditional way like I did it, it's wrong...." kinda guy, I'm actually pretty open minded when it comes to things like this. The criteria just doesn't seem right for 4th graders to learn by first. The traditional way, to me, seems like a more solid way of learning longterm. Then learn to work whatever out in your head later on, just like every one of us here did. But, I am not an education professional, so my opinion is just that, an opinion.

I love mexican food....and we pretty much just got the Subway of mexican food opened in town. It's called Amogos Burritos. It is so fawkin good, you wouldn't believe! It's just like Subway, you go in, pick from burrito, bowl, nachos, salad, etc, then pick meat and toppings.

This cost $7.62 and probably weighs 2 lbs. Grilled chicken, rice, black beans, queso cheese dip, shredded cheese, chipotle ranch, and hot sauce. Dammit boy! Lots of other **** to choose from but I don't like peppers, onions, and all that.
