Ah Ha..... Missed me for the most part. 4" of wet heavy snow, then rain on top which melted most of it.

Followed this trail from a drop lot at work this morning for about 4 miles till the trail got cold. Pulled off the side of the road in two different spots to top it off. Guess he couldn't figure out why there were dark streaks and smoke following his truck and trailer

That reminds me of when I first started in logistics and rode to the recycling yard with a scruffy old truck driver. I watched him grind and slam and cram every gear in that truck the whole way over.

When I asked him why he doesn't use the clutch I was answered with, "They don't pay me 'nuff to use the gawddamn clutch, so ****'em".

Me being green in the scene and looking like typical cubical keyboard ****er with my khaki's and polo shirt said, "Sounds good to me!!" :)

If it was a non synchronized big truck transmission like what I think you're talking about it wouldn't matter a whole lot. If you cant float the gears you'll have problems even if you try using the clutch. Big truck trannys are a whole different world than the manual transmissions you find in light duty vehicles. Clutch is pretty much only for stop and go in a big truck.

It was an old and ****ty looking truck....I mean, not like new ****ty, like old and super ****ty. :)

No synchros. You don't clutch a non synchronized big truck trans, you match the engine speed to the output shaft speed at that gear. All the synchro is doing is speeding up or slowing down your clutch disc/input shaft when you disengage the pressure plate. Instead of slowing the input down for the next gear you let the engine decel between shifts and with timing the input and output turn the same speed on the way by.

Saw this at the gas station the other day. No straps or tie downs any where just sitting on the trailer the rear bucket was up in the air and swung to the side to clear the mesh tailgate on the trailer.

I've always found the older they are the easier they are to shift because they seem to be broke in after a couple hundred thousand miles although I have driven some old ones that made me look dumb. Some of the old 2 stroke trucks take a bit to get the hang of and a place I used to work had a truck 3rd gear and 4th gear were swapped positions from how they are in 99.99% of other manual transmissions and that could really mess you up if you weren't driving it every day.

First pic is a freshly poured slab of metal, it's still liquid on the inside. The second pic is the ovens it passes thru, before being rolled down to the thickness the customer wants. Third is close up of the furnace (oven), it is around 2000 degrees inside. Last pic I tried to get a pic inside, but it was to bright for my phone

I always said "If it takes more than two fingers to shift.....Your doing it wrong"
