Finally finished with the front axle install. Once the wife gets over how much this costs maybe she will let me back in the business time room and I can stop sleeping on the couch. :redneck:

Big thanks to Tom at Tommybuilt for doing all the fab work. Also thanks to Joe Bunker for doing the machine work.

Started with a D30 that was bent in half. I need to find a way to set this thing on fire. It served its purpose for the last 7 or so years, but I killed it with class and style.

Awesome Karl! You and Tom have done a nice job! :awesomework:

You guys should do some prison yard weight lifting with the dana 30. Get Buff! :haha:

is it too late for crusher corners? haha you are gonna love having the sturdy drivetrain eliminating the please dont break driving style.

60 looks good man, did you guys use a kit for all the axle brackets to mate to the stock suspension or did you fab your own stuff? What locker? What shafts? Did you cut it down and if so to what WMS?

Is that a 60 in the rear too?

Nothing is stock in the suspension. It's a tommybuilt fab 3 link with track (panhard) bar. I've taken it everywhere and it whoops ass. Even out at moses lake or Johnson Valley it soaks up the go fast terrain with ease. Well, with the 30 in the front it did. I dicked around with it a bit yesterday and it seemed to have the same characteristics.

I chose the grizzly locker due to a great sales pitch at randys when I was there to buy a detroit for it. We shall see how it holds up to me assraping it. We cut the housing down 5 inches. Not sure on the WMS but I can take a measurement in a few to find out width with the tires on it. I want to say 67 or 68 WMS but I can't be exactly sure of that.

Shafts are stock with factory drive slugs for now. Doug Dye never answered the phone so I had Dutchman cut down the long side for me. When I break them I will upgrade.

The rear end is a HEAVILY trussed and polished 8.8 with a detroit and factory 31 spline shafts in it. I beat the piss out of it and it smiled in the last rendition of it, but we straitened it and trussed the bajeezus out of it last time we build the suspension. See my build thread for more on the axle. (Some **** for Karl) in the Garage.

Carla cannot stop with the modifications. I surmise it'll be back-halved in another year or two.

Karl, on the other hand, looks like he had fun putting those beadlocks together. They look like a PITA to get the beadlock bolt heads torqued.

Karl does not drive with a "please don't break" driving style.

These.

It takes two.

Funny when we were putting them together we weren't wearing safety glasses and were torquing them down with a 3/8 impact gun. One of the bolts let loose and I was on the wrench side of the wheel. If we had a slow motion video of the event I'm betting that it just barely grazed my sack. It was the only direction it could have gone. Immediately after that we donned safety gear. And I covered the boys to prevent total grundle failure.

2000 or 2001 superduty 60, long tube cut down 5". I believe its at that 64" WMS. Redrilled stock unit bearings and rotors for 8x6.5 BP. Turned unit bearings to clear smaller id of standard BP wheels. Knuckles milled, double key style for highsteer, arms machined. Cheep stock GM drive slugs for now. Bobby long covers on the drive slugs. Stock brakes to keep it cheep functional (60 brakes that is). No stock suspension to work around other than those @##!FU@#$$@# big coils. Brackets all by me. Shafts are 100% stock, long side is Dutchman resplined.

He will be getting 35 spline stubs in his neer future. I just hope he saves the unit bearing so I can bore them for the shafts when that comes.

The whole Jeep is a work in progress. I don't think he will be doing any 60 in the rear. He has been sold on the 14 bolt anchor. The Jeep needs to be family friendly soon as that is what he wants. There will be no backhalves here.

Nice work Tom:awesomework:
