Project TJ to an LJ

6 quarts of black. I scuffed with 180 grit. You don't want to go down to bare metal. Most use scotchbrite to prep. I'll use 80 or 180 depending on the thickness of the material I'm spraying over. I always use the standard gun that comes with the kit. You can adjust pressure and distance you spray to change the texture.

I'll be doing the inside also when I'm finished with the cage and custom dash.

Found a great deal on a 4l80e to replace my th400 for better road manners. I'll have to get a new transmission harness added to my current one as it has been deleted to run the engine only.

So, what I thought would be an easy bolt on job with the 205/4l80e turned out to be a bit more work. But I saved a lot of money not buying an advanced adapter kit.

Got the front suspension geometry correct along with new Panhard, drag link and tie rod bars made out of 1.5" Dom 1/4" wall. Front is stretched 2".

Had a friend that did a similar concept, except he stretched everything in front of the wheels.

Tub was same dimensions as LJ, but no rear overhang.

Build is looking good.
That's exactly what I had in mind as well. Stretch it to the same tub length as an LJ, but do all of the stretching in front of the rear tires so you have the stock TJ overhang. I think it would look PERFECT.

Well boys been plugging away at the body work. Ended up getting different hood as the original had some dents on body seams. This one has some minor dings that I pulled and putting a skim coat of filler on. Also got the coilovers polished up and new springs installed. Should have color on everything this week. Then assembly starts next weekend. Should be a roller again by next Sunday.
