Question - Trans issue with 97 5spd 4cyl Toy

Trying to help my sister and law out.

She has a 97 Toy truck with a 4 cyl and 5spd. Problem is that it does not feel like it is going all the way into 3rd and 4th gears. At times it will pop out of 4th gear when warmmed up, and even pop out of 3rd if it is really warm.

It does not have a problem in any other gear that I can tell, my guess is that there is something wrong with the 3-4 shift rail.

Is this a common issue with Toyotas or does anyone have enough knowledge as how this trans is put together that they can tell me what might be going on?

No the shifter does not feel sloppy when in gear. It just feels like it is only going in about half way into gear max.

well 3 and 4 are on the same shift rod and fork.
might have to dig into it....
