Daryl made short work of drawing up a skid to cut out on the plasma table. One quick bend and she was ready. (I'll add some hidden angle iron reinforcements later)

Drilling and taping 14 holes in the frame is a blast...

Then on to fixing my broken tranny mount. I wanted to do something off my clocking ring to take advantage of more attachment points but was stuck on how to proceed. Nixxer saw me staring confused, hating life and hatched a plan.

Was made harder by the fact that my clocking ring was permanently attached to the case via locktite. Thus, he cut the mount slightly bigger than the ring so he could get full penetration from just the one side, while not adding any material past the flat mounting surface. Dude's got talent

Just a bit of finish welding and maybe boxing in where the drop out crossmember attaches to the old mounts. But I'm fully stoked how it came out!

Wanted to get the jeep out of the shop and back home, so Friday after work I set in for the night. Was just me, so unfortunately there was no
"pretty" fab accomplished. Just good ol' Nuzzy style redneckery :redneck:

Started off finishing my frame tie-ins for the cage in the front. No pics, but just took 2"ish long sections of tube from the floor plate and extend to my slider legs.

Then I took my new cross member out to finish the welds. While putting it back in, I got into a fight... It was being a pain to line up and on top of that, I hated the access to the bolts (from using the preexisting mounts, the bolts were so close to the tube that a socket wouldn't fit). As has been my rule from day one with this shitbox, anything hard to access gets changed/moved or it's surrounding area cut out so I don't have to wrestle with stuff. Thus, out came the plasma and off came the old mounts.

New mounts welded to frame, bolts have more than enough room to fit an impact, and I left enough space to easily line things up, relying on the bolts/nuts to pull everything in snug.

Then turned up the juice and burned on D ring tabs (2 front, 2 back) since until this point I had no real recovery points. (Yes the shackles are like that because the rig is in the hoist)

I sat thinking about my anti-wrap bar for a bit. Goal was to use parts I already had, and that included a heim with weld in bung as a shackle. I wanted to mount in double shear, but my pressing desire to finish the damn thing quickly took over. So scrounging through the scrap, I found stuff I thought I could make work. A piece of old steering stock drilled out to 5/8ths ID with a nut welded on the end and a piece of thicker wall tube drilled through so I could add plug welds seemed to do the trick for the time being.

It's a little crooked in spots, but I think that goes for everything on my rig :D I did originally want more separation on the axle end, but for ease I just ended up using some brackets I had from A&A Fab and that's what I got for holes.

After remounting my skid, cleaning up the tools, taking the wood sides off my trailer, and loading the jeep, it was 4am. After 19 hours in the shop, an MGD dinner and dessert, and no less than 8 Codeine filled Canadian issue pain killers (my back is pissed at me), I was finally bringing my baby home. I was simply overjoyed.

Prolly take it off the trailer and start painting the cage tomorrow.

Door bars?

Had a couple different ideas in mind, anywhere from full door bars with integrated new dash all the way to simple kidney bars. Couldn't decide so we left 'em off for the time being until I further ponder. I still want to do some sort of handle for weif to hold, but haven't come up with a cool idea for that one either (not a huge fan of the straight t-bar from the dash that a lot of people do).

I'm sure pokey's got one lyin' around!:stirpot:

Nah, had it crushed with the rest of the scrap metal and sent to the suzuki factory. Oh wait my bad that was the pop cans:haha:

Rigs looking real good Nuzzy :awesomework:
