Started happening once in a while about a month ago and now it's happening a lot! I put it in reverse and it back fire and bang and pops and dogs out ... Runs great in neutral and both forward gears ... But as soon as you put it in reverse it's like a timing retard or ignition is breaking up ? Any simple ideas im kinda stumped

There is a lot lower rev limiter in reverse. Don't know if that is your issue. I do have a stock ignition box for a 2006 if you need it to diagnose as I put a Black Rhino box on mine years ago.

Just a thought but you could maybe eliminate the problem by disconnecting whatever tells it its in reverse -trans range sensor or reverse switch :dunno:

I did some interwebs searches and found a forum that said to unhook battery to reset it, I did and it works for now... Not sure if it will start again or not but they also recommended tracing the wire that goes back to the emergency brake sensor on the rear brake and unhooking it because it has something to do with the computer overide or something , I'll run it a few days and see if the problem returns then dig for that if it does

Unhook the reverse "switch/light" on the passenger side of the motor and it will take the reverse limiter and keep the reverse light from coming on.

The problem came back today so i need to try sometbing else, is the switch your talkin about on the passenger of the motor ? 3 wires and two bolts hold
It in?

It's been awhile since I did mine, but I think I unplugged something on the passenger side of the engine. Not positive but I think it was the switch that showed it was in reverse on the motor, not the shifter switch.

I unhooked that plug and it only affected the high and low light on the dash, reverse light still lights up, but oddly it worked for about 5 minutes then the problem started again??? I'm completly baffled and think it may be the CDI box or whatever controls the tev limit itself, any more ideas? John maybe I will take you up on trying your spare to see if that works... ?

Ok it's fixed , thanks for all the ideas you guys got me close, after callin the dealer , talkin with you guys and searching countless forums , I tried all the tips and had the seats in and out a dozen times , there's a green single wire that works the reverse light and rev control on top of the motor under the air box, alot of times that connection is bad and causes the light to blink but tht wasn't my problem but got me close , long story short ... Adding a jumper wire ( grounding that green wire) makes the reverse light not work anymore on the dash and shuts the rev control for reverse off . I did this easy mod. And it fixed it... Hours of scratchingh head and searching for a 20 second fix ! Thanks again -Nate

Maybe you can help me out. I've search some but not as much as I should. My rhino is nearly impossible to get into Neutral. Adjusting the rods doesn't help. Where is the sensor or whatever to tell the dash when it is in neutral. I ask because my brake pedal sensor is going out and sometimes I can't get it to crank because it's not in neutral.

Yes I will fix brake pedal sensor but would like to get all my little problems fixed. Thanks.

Well I was wrong ... It didn't fix, I thought it was fixed last week and I went outta town and got back Sunday night , drove the rhino and it started doing it again... :dunno: I'm getting pissed by this point

The plug you grounded, did you try leaving it unplugged and ride around?
