I saw so many snap i cant even count them all.

was it the rocks chaffing them?

was it the stress?

Our group was discussing this a lot over the week and couldnt come up with a good answer.

im hoping this to be an informational thread not a cable verses rope thing so please stay on topic.

from your perspective what was the issue(s) that you saw?

there is a similar thread over on pirate and the general consensus is that a lot of the ropes that broke were old/frayed.

Also in a racing situation you tend to pay less attention to details such as proper rope placement so I think that there was probably a lot of ropes getting cut on rocks.

Don't know about race day but during tuesdays LCQ most of the winchlines were dragging on the rocks.

Also walking around the pits and was amazed about the poor shape of some of the ropes on the older rigs that were racing.
