Rubber fender flairs.

What are you using for home-made fender flairs? My new tires are just a tad wider, and I'm looking for an inexpensive solution to both road (mud) splatter and keeping the local LEO from looking too close (already have mud flaps). Thanks in advance.

Get a roll of lawn edging, makes lots of flairs for when you rip them off on trees and such.

I've done this with good results, you can buy 50 feet of fender flare for like 12 bucks. We did it on my old roommate's XJ after he got a "No fenders" ticket for having 3-4" of tire hanging out either side, cops left him alone after that.

Heat gun helps for getting it shaped right.

I was hoping for something like 6 inch conveyor belt, kinda a reinforced rubber material. But... without the cost of buying new.

The lawn edge material looks 'ok', (went and looked at it today), and it's cheap (which I like), but it's also pretty thin, and plastic.

You can always cut off the rolled edge of a section and double up the flat part. Use some epoxy and some small screws or nuts and bolts to attach the flat cut piece underneath the whole one. The screws/bolts will give it an industrial look along the rolled edge inside while holding the pieces together on the outer edge. When you attach the whole thing to your fender that will hold together the flat inner side.

Maybe find someone that works at a quarry or other facility that uses conveyors? I have had some of that stuff over the years and it is truly kick ass material for what you're trying to do.

I found an old truck Bed Mat. Cut 7 inch strips out of it. Works good. You can find old Bed Mats on Craigslist for 25 to 50 bucks. A full size mat will make a LOT of flairs, especially if you cut them into 6 inch strips. Cut easily with a SHARP box knife. Also, tin snips work good.
