Some questions about beadlocks

Why get bead locks if you dont even have lockers?
I have popped a bead from airing down and I wheel opens difs right now. You don't need lockers to air down or to wheel! Lockers make wheelin' easier and bead locks would be nice for peace of mind.

beadlocks

I had a stater pull me over by the capital when I first got my Zuk done. He said this thing should not be on the road! So of course I asked why? His responses were:Bumpers to tall and not wide enough, blinkers are not bright enough(used LED marker lights) Tires stick out to far. He looked for body lift, there wasn't any(body lift''s are illegal). That was all he commented on. What he didn't notice: 17 gallon fuel cell behind seat, and 32 BOLT ALLIED BEADLOCKS. This was a stater, they ussualy notice things way before local cops. My point is you will probably be o.k. with locks. If your really worried there are a couple companies making D.O.T. approved beadlocks now so that is an option. You might look into STAUN beadlocks also, they are D.O.T. approved and invisable to the eye once installed.

Staun or Tire-loc bead locks are a major pita to install. I know. It may be different with a tire machine but good god i will never try that again.

I have also heard that the Staun bead locks are the major sucko out here. While they do thier job, they still allow for "seepage" of mud and crap into the beads of the tires.

I wouldn't worry about it. My friend had T/R beadLOOKS on his XJ, and they look NO different then my T/R's....

Where does it say bodylifts are illegal? Ones that lift the body from the frame more than 4" are illegal.

And heres a little tidbit most dont realize. If the staun/tire loc tube gets low on pressure OR the right circumstances happen the tube could spin inside the kevlar jacket...causing the tube to fail and poppin a bead on yer trick incognito locks. Mechanical anything is the way to go.

I cant say I have heard of anyone getting poped for beadlocks . The only thing I have been nailed for is mud flaps (lack of) and tires sticking out to far of the wheel wells.

I got pulled over in the middle of the night for not having tail lights. Then the cop walked up. . .no outside mirrors, no horn, tires stick out too far, bumpers too high, no cat, Beadlocks with big rings. . blah blah blah. .

Cop sez: Looks like a fun toy. . .you want me to give you an escort home or can you just ride the brakes so you can be seen from behind? Also, if anyone else pulls you over, tell them that Officer Watson already took care of you and they can call me on the radio to confirm.

I've never heard of anyone getting hassled for beadlocks in WA and you can get away with almost anything if you don't drive like a fool and are respectful. The kicker is that if one of your rings flies off in a wreck and decapitates someone, your insurance company probably won't cover it because you weren't using DOT approved wheels.

my beadlocks have dot compliant stamped right into the rim. of course the rims were original equipment that i added beadlocks to.

so when/if i ever get questioned "those rims are oem equipment". thats my story and im sticking to it.

how is a cop gonna tell without disassembly if they are real or fake?

imo the fakelocks were the best thing to happen to the rim industry....
