Hey, can someone school me on all the Jeep acronyms?
xj means?
zj means?...
yj
tj
etc...

are all of these pretty much the same width? wait, better yet. are the axles pretty much interchangeable between the different models?

TJ ZJ XJ front axles are interchangeable.

YJ an a 84? - 95 Wrangler
TJ is an 97-06 Wrangler
XJ is an 84-01 Cherokee
ZJ is a 93-98 Grand Cherokee
WJ is an 99-04/5? Grand Cherokee
KJ is the liberty
CJ- you get the idea
DJ - postal or "dispatch" Jeep
SJ or FSJ any full size waggoneer or jeep truck
FC- Forward control Jeeps
WK - New Grand Cherokee
JK - New wrangler
LJ - TJ Unlimited

YJ an a 84? - 95 Wrangler

YJ is from '87 to '95

As for axle widths, CJs changed axle width in '82, IIRC (except CJ-5s, again IIRC, they were narrow track until they stopped making them in '83); they went from 53/50.5 to 56/54.5. Some FSJs were wider than others, some were offset rear differential (Quadratrac versions)... perch widths were the same on all the FSJs, but different from the CJs. CJ perch width is narrower than YJ (at least in the front).

Wasn't CJ.....Civilian Jeep? DJ.....Delivery Jeep? and YJ..Yuppy Jeep? :redneck:
I've heard Dispatch Jeep for DJ, too, but I have never seen anything official calling them anyother other than Jeep Universals or by their two-letter designator.
