I hate automated ticketing devices, just one more way for cops to be lazy and eat more donuts

"used for the purpose of reducing traffic and pedestrian collisions in the county. Cameras are located in residential areas and school zones where the posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour or lower."

Ever been to a car vs pedestrain crash? Anything it takes to get a$$hats to slow down in pedestrian areas is a good thing.

they are also on freeways in certain areas which doesnt fall into that statement

I haven't heard of them other than surface streets. The link posted (that I quoted) only mentions residential neighborhoods. I find it hard to believe the technology would work well on a freeway, I doubt you could just get the offending vehicle in the photo.

Around here there are only on lights, red light cameras. But i know there was talk about putting speeding cameras on freeway overpass's down south

I know other states indeed have them on overpasses and such.

i knew someone from law enforcement would pipe in on this:awesomework:

Thanks T.J. i couldnt remember for sure or not but i did remember hearing about them in other states

Careful driving through Lynnwood. Those red light cameras are allover the place...:looser:

The redlight cameras are awesome.

Pisses me off to be second in line and watch 3 or 4 ****tards drive through after my light is green. If I'm in front, I'll pull right into the intersection when the light turns green, just waiting for the day when some jackass hits my truck while running a red light.

Ya they are, i live in terrace which is one town over from lynnhood, hopefully they dont issue any red light tickets with the recent weather we have been having

We've all been in a situation where we are approaching an intersection when the light turns yellow. Got to make the decision; slam on the brakes or give her gas...which do you choose?

It all depends on the situation right?
say there is a big truck riding your ass, or your towing something heavy, etc... I don't think slamming on the brakes would be the safest idea.

This blind, your-guilty-no-matter-what, camera crap is just ludicrous.

They have one in a white van they park on the side of the freeway. Been using it in the Chehalis/Napavine construction zone. Supposed to be moving it up to the Little Rock area too.

Exactly what i was thinking, in some situations it can be safer to run it because of what you are hauling. In fact just the other day i saw a dodge hauling a 30 foot enclosed trailer run a red light because there just wasnt enough time to stop and of course it set off the camera, i sure hope they waved his ticket after seeing the pictures of what he was hauling

I don't like the camera crap anymore than the next guy, but you're not guilty until you confess by sending in the money. You can still have your day in court, and I'm pretty sure automated camera evidence alone doesn't stand up well in um cross examination...

There is a difference of "when the light turns yellow" and "when the light IS yellow". Too many jackasses run stale yellows around here. There is a lot of them that end up blocking the intersections and make the traffic worse because they are too damned impatient.

Right. And i'm guessing for most of us its cheaper to pay the ticket than to miss a days work to sit in a court room.

Also right. I'd say 90% of the time those cameras catch someone willfully guilty of being a jackass and deserve a ticket. However if you live in one of those areas where there are light cameras, its only a matter of time before you are in one of those situations where you make the right judgment call, but found guilty anyways. Week later your coughing up 140 bucks because you don't want to take time off work.

HAHAHAH Love it!!!!! I guess kids have way to much time on their hands in Maryland!! :D
