anybody have problems with spiders, im talkin big ones like the hobo spider. I need to get under my house and look but its been to hot. I keep killing these big brown spiders but from everything I read I cant seem to identify them very well. The hobo spider is poisoness and my wife and kid hate spiders so I need to do something any ideas:booo:

Be careful with them.My buddy Roney got bit and died three days later. Bad news. Best case youll get sick and have a big knot with a ***** hole or worst is death. You need to bomb your house inside and out in the same day.

Call a pest inspector. As much as I hate to pay anybody to do something I can do myself it might be the more prudent thing to do.

tha folks here are very helpful and are not out to sell you anything. they will tell you exactly what you have and how dangerous it realy is or is not. I know that office is in another county but I would think WSU a simular in this county. it will only cost a phone call to find out. my Aunt used to have them (here in Seattle) test pressure canner every year.

I agree with pokey. deadly spiders are one thing I wouldnt want to take on myself. I'd leave it up to the pros with the right equipment and knowledge to make sure they take care of problem ASAP.

Yeah I used to be worried about spiders way back in the day. I Read up on all kinds of stuff.

The NW pretty much doesn't have anything to be afraid of.

You're also not going to be able to idendify most spiders by looking at pictures on the web.

The Brown Recluse (Violin Spider), the Hobo Spider, Wolf Spider, and our common large Brown House spider all look almost IDENTICAL. Other than being slightly more harry.

The only way to tell is to look at them under a microscope. The rule goes, Big and hairy GOOD, smaller and no hair bad !!!

This hairy monster is commonly found in your tub or sink. It's harmless.

True that. Spider, scorpion, snake.......if they're BIG enough to scare you, they are probably harmless. It's the little guys that pack the lethal punch.




Sarg......Be diligent about 'securing' your house. Expandable (spray, in a can) foam is how I fixed my spider problem. I put that crap EVERWHERE and haven't seen the big guys in awhile.

I just made an appointment for a exterminator to come out and check out my house. My whole life I have never had problems with spiders before and I always thought we didnt have anything poisoness in washington :booo:

this is true about trying to identifing them I had one under a glass cup for an hour while I was on the lab top googling everything I could and all I could find were really gross pictures and bad bites and the only true way to know what you have is to put it under an magnify glass:mad:

Last winter we had a BIG spider problem in our main office acrossed from my shop. We had never really seen the big ass spiders inside before but all of the sudden you would open the door in the morning and there would be 6-10 big house or Hobo spiders (not sure) scattered around. We have 2 gals that work in there so this was a major issue. I'm the shop forman so I was the obvious choice to handle it right? Oh well, I sealed up any gaps to the outside with foam or caulk. Put wipers on the door bottoms. Sprayed ortho home defence around the threshholds. Sprinkled bug killer granules around the foundation. Got the spider traps at Home Depot to catch the ones that were already inside. PROBLEM SOLVED!:awesomework: Been 9mos and no more infestation.

The biggest spiders in the world live in my old shop in kapowsin.

It was the bus garage in the 1920s and I think some of the spiders there are that old too.

My buddys lake house has some big *****es too. Just have a few guys all walk over to the same side of the floating dock untill it dunks under at one end. Hoards of huge spiders with hair and shadows come flying up through the deck boards.

Its funny as hell to watch all the grown "MEN" all see these bad boys and then jump in the lake when they realize the path back is covered in spiders.:haha::haha:

There are some pretty big ones around that area, used to live less than a mile from your old shop.

Funny thing is i always thought tweakers lived where your old shop was because just the way it looked from the road until i came over with tyler lol.

the worst spider on the wetside of the state can only cause a small wound, contrary to what hysterical girls and poison peddlers will tell you.

remember the exterminator only makes money if you pay him to spray his toxins around your house.

the dry side does have black widows. for these it is only the adult females that can cause any harm. it causes illness in most people bitten but seldom kills anyone over 5 years and under 65.

We had a spider problem and we though they were hobo spiders and we found out that we had an aggresive house spider. needles to say the damn things are aggresive and one chased my wife and it her She just had a bruise for a while and she was fine. Here is a site to tell if you do not have a hobo.

I was trying to figure out what a big bastard at a friend of mine's house was (callobius severus we think) and from what I was reading, the "aggressive house spider" is also known as the hobo.

I hate spiders, but i can stand them if they dont crawl on me or touch me otherwise i do some weird ass dance and get shivers. But freshmen year down in cali me and my brother were moving some bricks for land scapping and we found probably a good 40 black widows, so we put like 16 of them into a 2 liter bottle just to watch them, that was a good memory lol

Funny this thread poped up.... I have a huge black widow in a zip tie container that I cought in my shop last weekend.

it is awesome,I have a big spider problem in my basement when I bout my hues, the previous owners had it full to within a foot of crap through the whole thing, and there was thousands of spiders of all sizes I sprayed the bug stop and it killed them all, I am talking spay the entire basement and the next day there is a hundred spiders hanging dead and a hundred or more on the floor.

now I spray once or twice a year and only see dead ones down there.

occasionally I'll find a spider in the house and for a while there the garage seemed infested. then I noticed quite a few of these running around and a marked reduction in garage spider encounters

yes we have let the spiders be, infact my wife didnt want me to kill them when we found them in our home but I did:redneck: I really dont mind the spiders but when my wife and kid can be harmed then its time to do something about it:;

I got the house sprayed this weekend witch helped my wife sleep better and allowed me to work on my buggy so everyone was happy:D
