Found out yesterday a good friend of mine died Tuesday night/Wed morning in his sleep. Had a lot of bp issues but he was late 40's with 3 kids, the youngest is 8. He hated going to the doc and taking care of himself. Do it for your family and friends. He was the reason that I'm not just a forklift driver anymore. He pushed me to make more of myself. Was the biggest asshole i met, but 10 minutes later he would do anything in the world to help you. We had our differences but damn it if he didn't push me to be a better person.

I lost a mentor a few years back who pushed me to start my business and end my dead end career working for a contractor who treated his people like dirt. Losing him was worse than losing some family.
I can relate; very sorry for your loss Travis.

I hate that.
I've seen too many people limp through life and/or pass too early because they refused medical care/ignored symptoms.

Very similar story about a friend of a friend. Early 40s, constant fatigue, chest tightness etc, passed it off as stress/working/out of shape/etc. Eventually my friend forced a blood pressure cuff on him and it was through the roof. Dude was still hesitant to go to the Dr but the issue was pushed, wives got involved, and a week later he was getting heart surgery. Dr said it was an "you could have died at any second" scenario.

Heart/BP issues and Diabetes can "sneak up" on you. Gradually getting worse till it's dire.

My FIL let his diabetes go, and essentially a scrape on his leg from getting in/out of his Jeep 2.5 years ago has led to multiple amputations.

That sucks to hear. It is difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle sometimes with the pressures of life that is for sure. Thank you for posting up a reminder to everyone.

Stubbornness is the #1 killer of men, most don’t wanna seem weak or vulnerable but I had my dose of reality 2 months ago, I am a very big person, never been skinny my whole life, but my size has never stopped me from doing anything that I wanted to do, in January I tore a tendon in my foot so I said enough was enough and had been cutting back, well summer came and that’s beer drinking season, I’m a glutinous eater and on a Saturday night I would drink a case and eat a extra large pizza, after about 3-4 weeks of pretty hard weekend partying I felt pretty bad, went to urgent care and told em my symptoms and they pricked my finger and machine wouldn’t read my blood so they made me go to hospital and they had to check my blood in the lab and my blood sugar was 840. They made me stay over night and got it down to 300 before they released me. Hell I never missed a days work and drove 500 miles that day and drove myself to hospital. That’s 2 months ago and my sugar is doing great with pills and diet and so far lost 65lbs this year in total , I need to lose another 100 and I be happy. Yeah I’m a fat ass but I work every day
Op sorry about ur loss man. Sucks to lose a good friend
