I recently smoked my TH400 transmission on the Mammoth trail at AOAA. With the engine running for steering when I was towed out the trans was making some terrible noises by the time I got it in the shop for removal.
I ordered a new transmission from Summit Racing and the rig is back going, but now I have a spare I could rebuild.
I've never rebuilt a trans solo before but am pretty mechanically inclined. Could someone point me in the right direction for a rebuild kit to handle 500-550 HP? It seems most kits come with clutches and gaskets, but I would think I'd need some bearings and a pump as well. Any specialty tools needed? Any assistance is appreciate.
