I haven't hunted anything other than birds in the past ~14ish years...

This year I decided it was time to hunt again...

Shot this guy at about 32ish yards with a bow that I have never shot, in an orchard...

...some of the best venison I have ever had...

He is in the freezer and the head leaves tomorrow for a European mount...

Was hunting last weekend for a bear.... up in this country...

Saw a beautiful jet black bear ... about 200-225 pound... out about 350 yards. Never fired a shot because I didn't think I could get him out of where he was by myself..

Hoping to do more bear hunting this season. Not sure where I will put one in the Sami??? :D

im actually hunting this year,mostly because my stepson wanted to hunt deer.went up to okanogan area,we put him on the deer 2 days in a row,and he missed 2 different spikes....my fault for not getting him to the range for more practice..he had fun and is looking forward to next year.heading to naches for elk this weekend for me.

picked up a "new" bow last week... if I get it all setup and sighted in I might grab a tag for a late elk ... spike or cow... would love some cow elk in the freezer....

Got skunked this year on elk, although saw many critters...gave chase to some...Just couldn't get close enough...
One thing I did do, however, was got on a bloody track with boot tracks already on the blood---in case it was someone alone, and possibly needing help to pack out...Well, about 300yds into my tracking, the boot tracks just turned around and gave up...:mad:
At this point, ethically, I had to see this through so I followed the track from the area I was in, up over the 1712 (Clemons Ridge) and toward the 515, only to find the animal had bedded down at some point I am guessing during the night. Blood everywhere, but it got up and continued on down, bedding three more times, a little less blood in each, until finally the last bed had only a small spot in what looks like the right haunch got hit high, not lethal...anyhow, the blood stopped there, and prints walked away and crossed the 515, then the 1713 (Malloy Rd)...Trying to do the right thing and seeing someone else's poor shot through ended up costing me most of a day's hunt, but I had to do it...Ethics...:awesomework:
Now, I gotta get me some venison over here on the wet side...3 weeks to go...:corn:

Been duck hunting the Willapa/Lower Columbia. Not much luck yet, still trying to figure the area out. Hunting tidal water can be interesting to say the least.

Pulled a multi season tag this year, went out for archery in September and couldn't seal the deal. Went out during rifle and tagged my Muley. Now it time to kill some ducks. Been training my pup and she is getting the hang of things.
