But the display of the rebel flag is not usually about "heritage", even in the south. More often than not it's about either racism, ignorant youthful rebelliousness, or white trash pride.

I have a friend who has one and actually has it hanging in his room. He thinks it makes him "hardcore". I know he doesn't actually feel that way. Meh... the point is, it's a free country. If people want to fly the rebel flag, the swastika, or the flag of zimbabwe, they're free to do so. Doesn't bother me one bit.

I also have a friend who has an Iraqi flag. He has it hanging at his place. Does that mean he's a terrorist or allied with Saddam's government? No, he got it as a memento of his tour in Iraq for OIF.
