what gear ratios available for Toyota rearends , I have a toyota rearend thats really low was told its a weak one as its so low, I would like a 4.11 or a 4.44 to match the subaru Im building I will be putting thre toyota rearend into the subaru , whats out there and can a put another punkin on this rear or get a complete rear thanks Scott

8" toyota diffs. 3.90, 4.11, 4.30, 4.37, 4.56, 4.88, 5.29, 5.71, (6.20 rare as hell).

Count the number of teeth on the pinion and divide that by the number of teeth on the ring gear.

thanks dude..always wondered how to do that..

now the question is.. how to re-set used gears for the right backlash?

sorry to hijack..if you want to please reply via pm..

Check Pirate4x4, its been disproved so many times:hi:
not to get into it, but i think its been "proved" more times.....

backlash is easy. its setting the pinion depth u gotta worry about.

hm..
i dont see where that "proves" anything. but it is interesting.
when i bought my 5.29's, i asked about the 5.71s. they asked how i was going to be using the truck. i told them. they would NOT sell me the 5.71's. said they GUARANTEE i would break them....

he said if i REALLY wanted them(i didnt) to go somewhere else.

common sense says the smaller pinion is gonna be weaker. but i know ppl thats busted 4.10's:eeek:

ok I found a stock rearend looks like 60" wide out of a tacoma , what ratio would this be?? and will that punkin fit iin the older housing and axles??
