Well started a new build finally. Well got a the ifs box mounted finally. Now need ideas and direction on how I should length the steering shaft. I got 135amp welder and it doesnt it job. Was thinking of cutting putting a peice in between the two and then sleeve it after that. I need about 3ins to get in back together. Or seeing if I could just get the steering peice out of a 3in body lift. Any insight is great. So please help out.

Also going to bob the bed. I need some in site in where to start. I want to bob it as far as I can. The frame is already cut. So where to start my measurements and and how in should cut. Thanks again.

On the steering, could you get a shaft out of an IFS truck?

On the bed, start by cutting the rear bezel off along the factory weld. From there, look where you want to cut the frame, measure that distance and then cut that much out of the bed. Next cut the frame off and then weld the rear bezel back on.

take a torch to your steering shaft and heat it up where the two shafts combine, youll see it in the middle of the shaft. theres plastic inside the two and if you heat it up you can pull your steering shaft out further. i used the factory one on my 85 and it fit to the IFS box.

The steering shaft is the stock 80. Theres plastic in the middle? So once the plastic melts I can extend it and then weld it back together?
