I ordered a 4 cyl Yukon grizzly locker for the front axle in my Toyota and received a V6 locker instead. Ive done a little research and found that i can get bearings that will allow me to use it but not much info as to whether or not it would be a improvement to do so. Does anybody have any experience or opinions on this? I could just return it and wait another week or two for them to send me out the 4cyl one i ordered but im not sure if thats the best move or if i should just get the different bearings... Any insight would be appreciated, thanks

I know ARB and my TJM is the same way, made for a V6 with 4cyl conversion bearings. Maybe call the place you ordered it from and try telling them what you want and what you have. I'm assuming you got it from Randy's.

Well i didnt get it from randys unfortunately but they are saying that its like the arbs and you have to use the conversion bearings. Basically v6 id with 4 cyl od. They will refund my money but thats all they are offering so.... Im too impatient to wait for a refund then wait for another locker, guess ill use the conversion bearings. Not happy about the back and forth with this company though.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think all the ARB, TJM, Yukon Toyota diff products are built to V6 size specs and if you choose to install them into a 4cyl 3rd then you must use the conversion bearings. So, you have the "right locker" you just need the right bearings.

From my dealer:
Tech Note: ARB RD132 uses 50mm bearing journals. If your current differential has 45mm bearing journals (4 cylinder models) you will need the higher rated 50mm ID carrier bearing part # BRG32010X

You are correct maverick26 as far as the arb goes and the company i bought the grizzly locker from says that all aftermarket lockers are built to v6 specs but my detroit and trutrac that are already in the truck were installed with the 4cyl ring and pinion install kits so i know that at one point at least they weren't all built to v6 specs. Randys shows a price and part number difference for a 4cyl and v6 yukon grizzly so youd assume that they do make a 4cyl but the bottom line is it will work with the correct bearings so im just gonna use it. I do appreciate the responses though i didnt have a wealth of knowledge lastnight when i opened the box up and realized i had a problem. Learn something new everyday i guess.

Not a dd usually but i do drive it to the trails. Im not really trying to spend the extra cash to set up a v6 third at the moment. My last trip to elbe is already pushing $1600 for a upgraded fix of what i broke. At this point im only looking at $50 for the conversion bearings on top of what i spent on the locker. I'll probably set it up this weekend and i will post any problems but from what i gather the bearings should be the only thing that i need to make it work.
