I have a narrowed steering rock that I can't use because of the width. So before I go through all the work widening it I wanted to see if anyone had a stock steering housing they'd like to trade for a narrowed one. The long side of mine has been cut down to fit a stock short inner.

I'd happily buy a new housing from Blake at Red River Parts in TX before I went through the trouble of widening one back to stock. They are very reasonable on pricing. Tom at CSI in Atlanta probably sells just bare housings, too. Just my $0.02.

I am running a narrowed front with hubs out and a standard steering rear with hubs flipped in. My out side tires front and rear is the same. The only problem with the narrowed front is, I have to run a two piece drive shaft to go around the transmission pan. But the front chunk fits between the frame rails perfect. I can go where most ton stuff can go. Just saying.....

The shaft length difference from short to long is about 7-7/16". The width difference from flipped in to out is about 10". That means you're probably 2.5" wider in the rear than the front, or 1.25" per side, which is no big deal. But that's good info, so thanks. I'd definitely run hubs out before I bothered widening the axle, too.

I was going to mismatch the hubs, but the back spacing on my wheels makes the entire drive flange and part of the hub body stick out of the wheel when the hubs are in.

On my rear steer Rockwell, with hubs out, I went to truck pro and got longer wheel studs, put a spacer between wheel and axle. Because my wheel hit my high steer arm. That might help your offset some. Sounds like you might have to much offset for that tho. I have fought my narrowed front axe for ever. I wouldn't ever do that again. A double ended ram won't work either. Steering links are too short. Broke the shaft on the ram. Good luck!
