Trail Cleanliness: What do you bring?

What do you take with you while wheeling/offroading/camping/etc. in case of a spill or garbage retention?

Do you carry just a garbage bag?

Do you carry a Spill Kit and other items for safety.

Small spill kit (pnw4wda has these) for club runs and such and a large kit for events like Jamborees and such. Always have trashbags and latex gloves. I carry spare water (engine) in a one gallon antifreeze bottle. Works great for a emergency drain pan by cutting the side open.

I almost always pack out more than I pack in. On occasion I won't pick up other peoples ****, but I usually do.

Garbage bag, have been lucky so far (knock on wood) to not have a major spill issue.

TP and either a small folding shovel or a full-size shovel depending on space or mood.

Typically have a roll of paper-towels and grocery-store sized bags in the tool box for general clean up. And a pack of baby wipes for cleaning me. I have rubber gloves in my tool box.


Anything else is usually purely random or chance. I need to probably do a little better for hazmat clean up gear.

My jeeps are not pretty. So I have no problem throwing garbage in the back of them.
Regarding spill kits, I don't carry one.
I do carry a one gallon zippy bag, in case I need to drain something. But my normal disposition is that oil came from the earth, and can return there forthwith, at least around here. When I was in Moab, on the slickrock, it was more evident that an oil spill there would leave a lasting eyesore, and I'd be more inclined to carry spill absorbant. But in a pinch, I'd just throw my coat under it, to absorb the spill, then throw the oilsoaked coat in the back of the rig. You can also just empty out the icechest and use it for a bucket.

Regarding stuff I do carry; TP for wiping my ass. And no, I do NOT pack my **** out, at least not around here.

As a general rule, I pack out far more garbage than I ever have generated while wheeling. I blame the snowmobilers. Cause a hunter or hiker isn't going to carry a 12pack of budlight in a backpack.

Garbage bag usually and a shovel to scoop up some oil soaked dirt. Don't have a spill kit, but I might get some pig mat. It packs up small.

I just bring the RTW wherever I wheel, I toss the garbage out on the trail and they're all to eager to pick it up.
