What is it driving? (engine size/rig size) It makes a difference! I'd rather have the gear bottomed into the tcase input. Especially if it's 23 spline. If you have about that much letover from say a clocking ring, then see if you can swap in the shallower input gear (from say a NP208, 219, 228, or 229) to cover the rest of the spline adequately.
