Anyone ever do it? Even worth the welding wire and time?
I figured I would weld the side gears to the center gear and then install that into the 2 carrier halves and weld that up solid and just keep it around for a spare.
Going to try a Yukon locker this time around.

I did it along time ago on a 8 inch yota detroit. Guy I rode with had a spare third welded so we swapped it on trail. I took mine home, welded detroit and gave him my old one. He never bitched about it but I don't know if he ever ran it. It welded up good and looked like it would work fine.

I have "rebuilt" the Detroit in my front Dana 44 twice now...."frankenstein style"

when it breaks again I,m just gonna put a REAL spool up there :****:

;D

the detroit in the truggy my buddy got off poppy on here has the side gears welded in it, he said he kept breaking detroits and finally welded it, hasnt broke since

I did one once. Used all thread to holdit all together and welded the **** out of everything. it looked like a heavy metal ball when wall was said and done. It sent it with the buggy when I sold it.
