Yes they are worth a **** depending on what you put them in. Price range varies depending on what all you have wiring harness and computer.

There is very many options to make big power out of the ls series engines. The 5.3 is a great engine to start with.:awesomework:

the 5.3 is not worth **** performance wise. It is a great, moderate power, awesome reliability motor, It IS NOT an LS series motor, it is a 3rd gen motor, if you are looking to build serious power start with any of the 6.0 liters perferably the LQ9 which is the hummer/escalade aluminum head 6.0 put the GM performance parts hot cam setup in it, get the msd ignition controller, edelbrock manifold and a nice carb, do this and you will be in the 450-475hp range

Screw that carb ****. You can get aftermarket harness and computer with only 5 wires to hookup, and no emissions to worry about.

nothing wrong with the 5.3 for a wheeler but no way is it worth 1k. and putting a carb on it? :haha:

the 6.0 in the escalades and such is your best bet if you want to make horsepower on the cheap.

The pushrod motor lives on :cheer:
