theres the power line trails at academy , Portal way , and maybe some pit wheeling at north fork. There is also a mud bog on dewey rd under the power lines. I think there is another mud run behind sunset pond you hae to enter it through the apartment complex on woodstock rd. . You can also go behind the railroad tracks at nooksack casino. Be careful at portal way , i think there is a honda in the bottom of that mud hole. I had a 69 highboy on 38's stuck in there and when i climbed out the window and stood on the ground the roof was only to my knee. Thats a deep hole. Oh yeah and the other pond across the freeway from sunset pond has mud trails, and there are guys who wheel when the tides out over to lummi island . Thats good if you own a pressure washer , have full coverage and just plain out like body rust.:awesomework:

All the places you mentioned, you are technicially not allowed, except possibly the rock pit at NorthFork.( yeehaw look at me driving around a rock pit)

Mud flats are highly off limits.

In whatcom county there is really not a spot for wheeling ( other then snow wheeling), that is really permitted. ( there might be a couple)

Thats why I have not wheeled in Whatcom county for about 7 years.

So please wheel in the proper areas, we have enough problems as it is.:awesomework:

There's a State Patrol officer that lives at one of the ways to get in, and he's stated that the property was purchased by someone who's planning on developing it, and as long as people respect his land, he doesn't mind people using it; at their own risk!Now, this information has been going around town for the last few months, and have yet to confirm, but as for the rest of the areas, IT's DEFINITELY OFF LIMITS!!!!

3) Clubs don't govern where you wheel, LAWS DO and common sense :looser:

4) Unless DNR and Trillum changed there minds, NorthFork has been closed for years. Just cause the gate got torn down, doesn't change that.

5) Just because you gave some parts to some guy, doesn't mean he shouldn't say something.
Nobody was assuming anything, you stated to have a 69 Highboy that you took "through there". So you stated you did, nobody assumed.

And if you don't go to these places like you state, then why would you recommend them??

(1)Whether or not you belong to any club, you were telling him areas(ie; Sunset pond,Dewey Rd,Casino,Portal Way); All those places are closed,and illegal;(2)I understand Academy is theoretically ok to go to, but I personally haven't heard from someone who has authority to say it is;that's why I stated what I did=>"unsubstantiated");and North Fork in the pit-one could probably go there, however I wouldn't take anything down into gravel pit due to all the trash that's been left since the closure of trails!!!(pit used to be a staging area for everyone going up there)(3)I'm part of said club, I know I haven't said anything like that;I don't know where you "heard" that from, those that are active members WILL NOT say to do that,you were with us on New Year's Day and did any members run the trails---NO!!! None off the portal way is closed thats where my high boy was stuck. North fork is a logging area also so there isnt a gate up. There is a gravel pit and road that is open to street legal vehicles. THis is per dnr when i talked to them last month. They are places i know off. I know none of them to be off limits. He is beig dumb because his club was up there. See the pics at rrr4x4.com . They were saying lets do a trail. I am wheeling a pathfinder and have been nowhere other than academy as it still has ifs junk under it. I have permission from the owner to be at academy. I am mad because he acted like they dont do any wrong. That is all. so to jake maybe you shoud talk to local authorities that have jurisdiction over the spots i stated and then wheel there. Is that better?

Thats why we get involved with issues, to remove rumors and to solve problems.

As far as NorthFork being a logging area, the people who live up there and Trillum ( the ones that own the dirt road from the county road to the wood bridge) installed a gate at one point to keep people out, that got torn up by people who can't and won't follow any laws.

So at one point there was a gate, and we were told that because the gate down it didn't change anything. Unless the residents and Trillum gave up, DNR really don't have much say.

Did you talk to the E&E officer at DNR?

I haven't been in washington long so i wouldn't know the history. I wont pretend to know the name of who i talked to at dnr. I talked to a lady , she transfered me to a guy and i got is voicemail. He called me back and we resolved yet another rumor or two on the phone. Call up there if you want but i was told the road and gravel are okay. And that guy has an f150 so the gravel pit and wide open is all he needs unless he hates that ford as much as i hated my k-5 blazer. It ended up 3 feet wide and upside down in my yard with a mazda cab on its chassis.:awesomework:

This is the girl in the mentioned "green sami" by mechnanical tragedy. So yes, I'm a member of the RRR and just to clarify things, NONE of the club members went on any trail in the North Fork area during the Hangover Run on Jan 1st. The trails were discussed througout the day just as casual wheelin conversation, stories of past trips, the mt bikers that have taken over the trails since we were booted out, and the penalties for using the trails since the closure. Would it be nice to hit those trails again? Of course. But let's make something crystal clear. Mechanical Tragedy was never invited to hit an acutal 4x4 trail with any member of the Ridge Rams, partly because none of us used the trails either, and partly because Mechanical Tragedy doesn't have a wheeler. I don't think the Nissan would've made it more than 20 yards on a real trail. uke:
