What RPM Torque Converter

I am getting to put an automatic in my Jeep. I am having the th-350 built right now and trying to figure out what RPM torque converter to get. It is a full bodied Jeep, LT-1, Atlas 4.3-1 case. 4.10 gears and 39'reds. I like how I can get some wheel speed if i want with the maual transmission, hopefully I will be able to somewhat with the auto.

2800 is a great all around converter for a 10to1 sbc.

As far as I know it is a stock engine out a 1997 Trans AM, I have looked for the cam specs but no luck in a quick search of the web. Only thing done to the engine is intake and exhaust.

i have 4.3l 2.7 case and 4.88 gears i tryed 2400 stall 12 in. and the brakes barely hold it back then i went to 3400 10in it good for hill climbs but when i get on bigg rocks it slips to much my brother runs 3200 12in that seem to be the ticket 10in converter just wont hold stall aganst bigg rocks

Just remember, more stall= more heat, you going to love that automatic

Call PTC and speak to ED he can recommend you a Torque Converter. When I switched to one of there Torque Converters it really woke my buggy up, and they are a super company to deal with.

I'm running a 2800 to 3200 stall Ina full bodied yj. Fairly built motor around 400ish hp. Cam is a 280 /480 288/497 comp cam and I wish my stall was about 500 less. I'm also running np 205, 410 gears and 42" irocks.

I have a 600 hp big chevy with 228-234 601 lift Dane cam. I have built trans and a1100 13 in converter and Looove it. My motor idles at 900 rpms with no brake issues and no slip in the rocks and will hold back going down hills.I don't understand you guys running loose converters in rock crawlers.

I run a PTC 10" in everything. It's advertised at 2400 and I wouldn't change a thing. PTC builds a great converter and their 10" flat works.

I put a B&M Holeshot 2000-2200 in mine (stock TPI 350) and it seems about right

i also run a PTC 10in. give them a call. they are very knowledgeable on offroad aps. there converters are in most all buggys around here.

Ran the 10" PTC converter with around 2200-2400 stall.

Ed is where my converter and tranny came from....and he said he wouldnt go over 2400 on the stall

Hughes GM20 with 2000rpm stall in a TH400 behind a stock LQ4. I couldn't be happier with how it works. Does not run through the brakes and will crawl great on the technical stuff. Supposedly has stator modifications for more torque multiplication. My transmission cooler fan is thermostat controlled and does not run very much.
