Your 12V started life as a simple 160 horse( no intercooler) great milage, last forever motor. Ever the 7.3 started life simple. All they needed was fuel and air, no electricity. Push them off, run. I am disappointed on how long it ford to quit the 6.0 diesel and how long it took dodge to fix there sorry seats that wore out after only 50 k miles. But we can't complain about the engines because it what we wanted. Even with 400 factory hp, most of us make ours double that. Most of you guys are talking about truck engines not trucks. And most are talking about there main change years. I think if you take ten trucks, of any brand, and give them to ten people, half the people will love them and half the people will hate them. BTW, I have seen lots of ford and chevy 3/4 ton trucks with gas motors. How many 3/4 ton dodge trucks you see with gas motors? Maybe it is all about the cummins. I guess I just made some enemies.

[QUOTE="halcat, post: 445025, member: 2295"] You guy need to back up and read this whole thread again. Everybody's had great trucks! think back. Way back. I have seen many, many 88 and 89 7.3 I.D. Fords clock 400+K miles in construction trucks. With no problems. Your 12V started life as a simple 160 horse( no intercooler) great milage, last forever motor. Ever the 7.3 started life simple. All they needed was fuel and air, no electricity. Push them off, run. Than what? More, more, more! I used to haul pipe in a semi with a 238 Detroit (238 is the horse power) and gross 73000 lb. My new ford PICKUP has 400hp. As these engine has evolved to what we ask for, there is a price to pay. I think the market has progress pretty good considering how fast they have changed.
