Wheelin?

I'm back at it. Was down building for 2 years. Now I'm catching back up on honeyes do's before it's business as usual. This will be first koh year for me. Hope to get one more Reiter run in before then to test out the new shocks

Yeah You can, Friday the day of the big race most everything is shutdown but you can still get around

Trails not being raced on are open. There are some good maps online, print out one or two. People get lost with GPS. The place is huge.

Try to tag along with someone who knows the area. 2 reasons. 1, folks love to show a new guy around. 2, it will maximize your time there if you don't spend half of it lost wandering around!

Keep a hoodie in the rig to. There's lots of times you will leave when its hot out in daylight wearing a tee shirt and think your going to be back by dark and you end up in the hills in the dark. It gets COLD when the sun goes down.

I dont think there is a better time to go for a first trip to the hammers. There is TONS of support for tools and repairs. Parts are usually no more than a day away.

Be prepared for dust!

Openings in the hills for trails/passes/valleys kinda disappear unless your lined up with them and looking. Its easy to drive right by an opening as they blend with the background very well.

Thanks for the tips! I'm excited. Actually bringing my 9yo boy with me. Should be an experience he will always remember

... I pretty much just go for little drives in the hills now. Sold my 'Runner probably 5 years ago? Maybe more?

Now I have my stock Sami w/ a winch... and I just bought a pretty clean 77 F150 for a daily driver...

Don't really have the time or ambition for "wheelin" any more. In the summer I like the river in my boat, and I just picked up a vintage camper van that I am hoping to use a lot next summer... and in the winter I am busy w/ work, kids wrestling, etc...

That said, I still like to read about other peoples adventures :)

Still wheelin. Get out when I can.

Not so much involved with the Tamers anymore. I go play by myself or a few good buddies.

My core crew is either on deployment, has broken rigs, families, or part of this race team that takes up the majority of our "wheelin" time working on the race car, or getting our ****boxes ready for the next big trip.

That being said, we get a few EPIC trips in every year.

Been 4 or 5 years. All my wheeling buddies sold or put their rigs in storage and moved to dirt bikes and ATV's as it was easier to get their kids interested. So I sold my Samurai. 1 buddy got his rig out of storage and I'm working on my truck. Hope to get back out next year.

I went to Elbe on Black Friday. Ran the busy. Blew up a front output beginning of mainline. Probably the best money spent that day and no crowds of idiots.

I just lie to myself mostly, saying," I'm going to get out more this year". My wheeler just sits on the garage collecting dust. I start it up and back it out of the garage every once in awhile, but its been more then a year and a half since I've actually drove it anywhere.

X2 except my rig is stuck outside, which is NOT good for it.

Bent the drive shaft at the reiter rock-crawl and still haven't fixed it, keep telling my self I'm going to tear the whole thing apart since it has multiple issues... but haven't. Can't even bomb around the neighborhood :(

Traded off my last wheelable rig going on 5 years ago now. Now with a kid and moving into the big ****ty farther away from any wheeling than I've ever lived I just don't really have the ambition. Got a big jacked up heehaw truck but it's a pavement princess, it's got too much engine and too much tire for the D44 in the front to do much more than drive around in the snow.

I'd like to get another small street legal rig once I pay some **** off, just don't know when it'll be in the budget.

been getting out when I can, but between work and life, I don't get out as often as I did in the past, for just wheeling...
Not to mention, maintaining 2 rigs gets expensive! :SMH:

Last time I went was in October. Taking a break for a while. Have 2 kids now that are my main focus. Plus I'm working a lot and going to school. I want to redo a few things on my rig before I take it out anymore too.
