We wanted to start a thread with a bunch of our current Jeep builds we are working on. We have made a couple production Jeep chassis that give you all of the benefits of an extreme 4x4 racing/trail buggy, with the looks and comfort of a Jeep Tj, Yj, or Cj body. These are some of the best performing Jeep chassis available. All of the parts on these guys are available on our website, wideopendesign.com. It's important to us to enable the at home builder a way to build 4x4's like these without being a custom fabricator or designer.
When we set out to design the this new "JC" Jeep Chassis it was to get rid of all of the problems that we had run in to over the years with building off of the stock frame. We took a lot of time in front of a CAD screen to come up with the best frame out there for hard core wheeling that would fit a Jeep Body. We were able to place the axle links where we wanted them and then build the frame around that. We also placed the drive train where it would sit in the right spot for the best clearance and give the balance that we wanted. We worked every thing out for a nice strong cage that when tied into the frame stiffened up the entire Jeep to where your ridding in a buggy wrapped in a Jeep shell.
Following along this thread we are going to continually keep this updated with builds that we are doing based off of this chassis platform. As we come up with new ideas and upgrades this is where you will see them.
