Winch mounting options...

That will work great for lifting it straight up in the air, but not for pulling.
Bottom of spool needs to be in a straight line to the direction you are pulling. You'll probably end up ripping your bumper off.

What about one of these mounts.

I just drilled the top frame rails and front flush mounts, and mounted this plate i had.. thx though... :awesomework:

If the bolt holes are the same as a TJ, then I have one that I will give you Rich.

again, thanks but i just mounted the plate i had. i didn't want to cut the factory bumper up and etc, and the JK's are funky up front compared to the Yj or Tj's. the Jk's are using a flat plate on the end of the frame rails to mount the factory bumper or after market ones. then they instead of using boxed tube all the way out, its now crinkled... arghhh. but hey i made it work and can still now use a aftermarket bumper if one turns up. but i'd personally feel better box tubing the whole damn front end. anyhow... winch mounted.

:cheer:

again thx guys... *(the plastic is just temp until i get a bumper or boxtube.)

heres where i'm at now... but i think i'm either going to copy these guys cutting up the factory bumper and etc, or just box tube it... the factory bumper aint worth a piss for protection though... but looks ok cut short, at least until a better bumper comes along or i box it up and maybe even add a small stinger.

heres some pic's i found... chopping up the front bumper

as seen in the first pic with the black jeep with the short factory bumper... can anyone cut and weld plastic together?

i haven't learned that one yet... *( plastic welding) how easy or whats it take to get the look like that factory bumper on the black jeep thats been cut?

i just threw on this plastic shroud / etc, to get by from ranger rick pulling me over until i come up with a plan for either shorty factory bumper or fabb

Alright now i'm really grooving on the look of the winch hidden beneath the factory bumper. cutting that factory bumper short and calling it done.

how do i weld or piece together the plastic pieces?

---- its kinda cool not seeing the winch exposed and keeping the factory look somewhat... yeah, ok searching now online to figure out how to mend together plastic pieces... that looks pretty cool, anyone think there would be issues running the winch upside down like that mounted behind the bumper?

:corn:

Hiding the winch is great, provided it NEVER gets used. I always want to visually inspect the winch, and the wire rope. Expecially to make sure the wire rope is correctly wound, not bound, or kinked.

thats exactly what i like to do as well when spooling it back on or etc. how would i or someone else feeding the spool do that? you can't see the spool?

but it does look clean and kinda cool. but i like the idea as you said too, being able to visually see the wire or rope for kinks or frays, etc. and guiding it back on the spool... damn it that looks pretty cool though.
