winch solenoid question.

What's the make / model of the winch? The newer Warns use a Controller pack, which looks like a giant solinoid. Four big lugs on top, three little spades connects on the side.

its an old smitty xrc8. and yes the solenoid log was one unit. i found some replacement ones on line but wasnt shure if the wiring was differant, series or permanent wound.

so will a standard solenoid pack work with permenant wound winch?

Give them a call and ask? They have pretty good customer service in my experience. When the solenoid on mine died, they sent me a new one free.
