How are the stock YJ brake boosters doing with an upgraded master (dana60 calipers up front/dana44 rear)? I have a nice booster off a XJ but its not going to fit unless I dump the stock 4.0 accel linkage assy...

Joe's rig??

I've got my takeoff 92YJ master cyl & booster if you want to play with one before you take Joe's unit apart.

For what it's worth, I never tried what you're suggesting on my YJ, I just replaced the whole assembly.

However on my CJ (stock 79, V8) the factory mc & bb were great!

What did you replace it with tony? Its got the stock booster there so if it will work then I am good...

It's a late 70s vette M/C. You have to do some line switching front to rear (and I think side to side - but I can't really remember). I bought it used as a kit from Grady. It was on his rock buggy before he switched to dual M/Cs. Mine originally was sold by as a kit (I think)

And I'm not running a proportioning valve.

I'm using the stock booster, a '78 Mercury Grand Marquis master cylinder, Chevy 60 calipers in the front and Chevy 44 calipers in the back. No problems, brakes are very good.

The corvette master cylinder is good, but the Grand Marquis MC is better. They are both 1 1/8 bore, they are both for 4-wheel discs. The Grand Marquis MC has the ports on the inner side, same as the stock YJ MC, the corvette ports are on the outer side. The Grand Marquis MC bolts up direct to the booster, and I also found it was cheaper.

Got a part number?

One thing to remember is you are still going to overdrive the brakes with that much gearing. I overdrive mine with the TH400 and 4.3 Atlas. When I'm wheelin', I'll kick the tranny up into N if I need to stop under some circumstances. With your doubled ultra low gears, that setup will pull right thru those brakes
