just a quick question. my buddy has a mid 80's samurai, and wants me to weld up the rear end. now these are set up just like the toyota right? where you can actually see the spiders? or is it like a ford 9"?

well i know its a drop out third. but i need to know is once i have the third out, are the spider gears visible? or are they in their own housing like a 9in

Yes it drops out like a toy/9 inch etc. but the spiders are not visible (like a 9 inch). It takes a little thinking but you can wed them up without making the carrier useless if a drop in locker is in it's future.

At least thats what I've seen in the last few sami rears we tore apart.

When I first welded my Zuk rear, I just did the spiders and not to the carrier so that if I wanted to do a drop in I could. After breaking the hell out of the welds, I then had it blobbed together. Works much better:awesomework:

And if your really worried about it I have a spare front diff and a rear third minus the flange nut laying in the garage. :)
