Alternator smoking!?

So got the buggy back together after powder and everything. Well after about 30 seconds of it running the alternator starts to smoke. It's showing 14.50 volts out of the b+ so now question is do I buy a new one or is there something else it could be?

Motor is 22rte for any odd reason it's important

are you positive its the alternator smoking or the belt? It was the belt on my 22rt.

mine started smoking, it took a few miles for it to start breaking down and overheating.

Make sure the main wire going is good, I've had them break down a couple inches up the wire under the insulation and you can't see it. It will start melting the wire

Replaced alternator and took care of the problem. No idea how long I had that one or what not but its taken care of. Going to be at rush this weekend
