was Help-- Mike found

Hardline Crawlers - Rock Bouncer Builds, Tech & Off-Road Trail Talk

Help Support Hardline Crawlers:

Well we got there it turned out to be more than just looking for mike. Joe and toybugs tow rigs were still up there so it kinda put me in panic mode and got ready and did some speed wheelin.

So I am alittle disturbed that the communication factor didnt come into play here. If you go wheeling and live that close to home as mike did he needed to call his wife or somehow get back to her and let her know you were going to be longer. Im glad it turned out the way it did and we didnt find him upside down at the bottom of a cliff but i put my rig through some abuse it didnt need to have worried about the lives of others. It kinda messed up my plans for a trip today in the snow with my wife because i need to fix stuff now before i can go out.

Looking back on it now after all the problems we had fun:awesomework: Glad everyone made it home ok.

Brian did you go out there by yourself? What about you other guys?...Not long ago Brian you had trouble keeping your rig on all fours during a day run and your rig has issues with reliability. What would you do if you rolled out there by yourself at night? It's great that you guys got out there to help but in hind sight was it the smartest thing to possibly make this one more that needed to be rescued?
I only bring this up because next time it could be the real deal and thinking a little bit before charging into a emergency situation might make all of the difference.
Again thanks for helping but.........:cheer:

The stilbility issue has been fixed. When i swapped to the first set of beadlocks i lost alot of width. I went from 79 front and 78 rear to 73 front and 72 rear. I got differnt wheels after that last run and also bought some spacers so im back up to 78 front and 77 rear. My sami is reliable .... The only probelm that i had was I think i forgot to torque the left rear wheel spacer and the driveline bolt came loose. That is going to get fixed. Im not sure why they came loose......but it wont happen again. As for wheelin by myself... that will never happen. Dirtball was with us the whole time. The tire issue was out of my hands..... So i may have toasted a tire from driving on it flat for half the night. Once we moved it to the rear i had no issues with it .

And as far as the flopping my rig goes it was because I was bored waiting for joe to catch up with the yj as he had seriuos traction issues so i was playing on stuff that even bobby had problems with. The first spot bobby almost did the samething. He went over but the tree stopped him from going all the way over. The second spot bobby made one attempt at it and went around. I have this problem with denial and kept at it until i was on my side. It wasnt like i just flopped on flat ground.

Well  then..... I didn't want to single you out but it was so easy.:haha:
I've seen many people before do just what I described. I would hate to see someone with good intentions put themselves in a bad situation.

Well i was feeling like a burden with the problems that i was having. Ever sense i put that driveline disco on it those driveline bolts loosen up. I going to fix that problem before i go out again. When that tire went down i was beyond furious.I couldnt steer.......put it to the rear and was good to go.

How was he suppose to call his wife?? Send up smoke signals?? Oops that wouldn't have worked it was dark??
And did anyone FORCE you to go up there?? Nope didn't think so, then don't ***** because you hurt your rig. You panicing and doing some SPEED WHEELING could have made the situation WORSE!!

The run took longer than planned. Hell I did the same thing a few years ago. We all make poor judgements sometimes. Sounds like so did you but now your trying to shift the blame for your damaged rig??

I dont care about the damage. He just shouldnt have told her a timeline. **** happens. Most of the stuff was stuff that could have been fixed. Now i know to fix it better. Communication is all that was needed. I glad i went and i did have fun once i look back on it.You can get cell service on top of the hills. My phone goes in and out of signal up there.

This doesnt need to turn into a bashing war! Brian was excited to go wheelin today but changed that to help some one last night. Yes he had some fun because he was wheelin but he was wheelin for a not so fun reason that could of been avoided by a simple phone call or a simple "hunny if im not back by a certin time call for help".Brian is just like I am and will change his wedding date if some one is in need of help. He wasnt blaming the damage to his rig on anyone he was just telling people that he had damaged it.We were glad to be up there last night to search for Mike and VARY glad that he ended up being ok.

Not trying to bash anyone. I would have been up there too helping if I lived closer and if my Jeep wasn't broke.

Sounds like Mike did say I am going to be gone about this long. And Stacy did wait longer than what he said he would be gone for. And I ask again "What simple phone call?" If you don't have cell service then what?? I know people who have sat phones but they are spendy. **** happens and Brian broke. Fix it and go wheeling tomorrow.

Glad everyone is o.k. and home, we have an awsome community here.......

I say great call Brian. I just hope if I am ever stranded somebody will do the same for me.

If anyone is stranded and my rig is up and running you can count on me being there.:awesomework: I searched half the time on a flat tire and wasted the tire hoping to find Xjoe an toybug. I got the flat at the same time as we got ahold of mike.Cost of damage doesnt play a part in the rescue of someone in need.

Well, though I'm new here, I'm glad to see everyones safe, and was astonished by the way everyone was so quick to lend a hand. This thread is actually what made me check out the site, because CurreyR from wazuks posted a link and said he was heading up in the morning to lend a hand if needed. It's just nice to see that even though it all turned out to be a lack of comunication, that everyone was willing to help out in a time of need.

Glad you see that, don't let our bickering between eachother get the better of you. It happens all the time, but this is a great group and we will certainly be there to help out someone in need :awesomework:

Well some added damage.

So on the 311 i hit a tree and bent my lower link. I thought that was the only thing that mess up....I was wrong. When i hit the tree it turned full lock to theleft and I didnt think anything of it and kept going. I felt something funny in the steering wheel all night but wasnt sure why. Tonight as i backed off the trailer i turn to the left and heard a very loud pop and the left tire locked up. I got excited thinking I broke the birf. Sure enough I did. This is what happens if you over steer. Hopefully its warrantied but if not Ill buy another.

NO DRAMA PLEASE

I gotta chime in here,
I wanna give some due thanks to everyone on this board
that goes out to help out when ever someone is in need
(or in this case may be in need)
Seems that it doesnt matter if you guys know the person or not,
it always is a non issue here for you guys to help out.
BrainH is a really big player.
He did the same with the Broke Bastards crew when we had a rig
go off the side of a cliff a few years back and he didnt know anyone involved.
I know he aint the only one but for some reason he does tend to always be there.

Thanks to him and everyone else that goes out of their way for others.

OK brown nose rant over,

Bye the way,,,,,:awesomework: Nice carnage

Ka-boooooom :eeek:

If ya hit it hard enough to bend a link--yup you nailed it good...
