A simpler option would be to just cut down the long side of your housing so that you can run a wagoneer-length inner shaft on the long side, and call it a day. D44 C's are pretty easy to remove, just grind through the weld slowly all the way around and use a BFH on it. Compare wagoneer shaft measurements to chevy measurements, cut exactly that off the housing, and mash the C back on there, make the caster lines up the same as the other side, and weld up.
If you don't have a housing, I have a chevy 44 housing you can have. It's got shafts in it, but it's bare from the C's out, and the gears and/or the carrier are broken. Sitting in the back of my dad's dump truck for weight for this winter, at his shop in Leavenworth.
