I dug out the last pay stub and its $112.33 every 2 weeks I thought it was less. the employer pays $136 on top of that so insurance is @$500 a month :eeek:

Your pay stub tells you what your employer pays? or do you do a cost share at a % and figured it that way?

The wife works for the state so everything is itemized. $30 for group health then another $82 for the plan we are on. My last employer paid for everything but the deductible was outrageous $250 for ER visit $75 on doctor visits and perscriptions. If she didn't work for the state we would be paying out a lot more in perscriptions alone .

Well since you know everything about my financial income. :rolleyes:

For your info.. My wheeler has been sitting idle in my garage for months. No money out of my pocket has gone into it for quit some time now.

The big screen purchase was for the best. My old one crapped out, we got a smaller and more energy effiecient TV. The new one draws as much power as a light bulb. Our power bill has gone down about $75 a month since we did this to inlcude replacing our other TVs'.

But here's the kicker the owner of the company and the higher ups have health insurance, so why the **** can't they step up and provide healthcare for the workers of the group?

:haha: Point being no matter what YOU can afford to have health care, I know I can but at least I will admit that my yota and wheeling/camping are high up on the priority list.. :cheer:

Not mine, i wish ours did because our insurance is outragous. Just in the last year it has like doubled because they are not contributing as much as they used to.

Especially when your covering yourself, the wife & 2 kids...that SHIAT gets expensive:mad:

Very true. Could definitely make more money in the private sector than working for a municipality. But then, be right back to where i'm at after paying for my own insurance.
 
For our provincial healthcare, I pay $110 a month for BC Medical for a family of four by law I have to pay this (unless your family income is below X number of dollars or your collecting wealthfare which gets you both medical and some dental:mad:) .

This is just standard healthcare not extended health care or Dental. Extended healthcare through an employer when my wife last had it cost us another $200 plus what the employer put in.

Interesting. I was under the assumption medical was taken care of in canada--had no idea you actually had to pay...

You must watch way to much TV, my power bill is not even $75 a month for my house and shop....:cheer:
You might want some medical insurance if you just sit around that much, your gunna need it....:eek:

Assuming his TV sucks up 500 watts (big ass TV), and his power costs $0.08 per KWH, our boy JOOP would have to watch about 78 days worth of TV, 24/7. Per month. 78 days per month. Yup.

Or watch a couple three TV's at once.....More likely the power went down because in summer months the heat is off......Just a guess.
Back on topic,......Everyone knows the root of the problem with health care is malpractice lawsuits and the cost of the doctors insurance to protect them from these lawsuits. Getting a handle on that is where the effort should be spent. Gov health care is just a mask for the real problem.

So even as Binder says its three TVs, that's 3 of them 24 hours a day, and then not even taking into account that those three TVs are still on all day long for the month, just more electrical friendly....:haha::haha:

PS, it's not obama's health care plan, nor is it his bill. He didn't author it.

Oh, and these page numbers you posted earlier, are those from the house bill, or the senate bill. You know there's more than one bill and it hasn't gone through reconciliation yet, right?

I am happy that you all are giving this some thought. If everyone could step away from the constraints of party lines and take a close look what this bill will mean for you and your future, then act on it accordingly YOU will build a stronger America. This is our country and it is time we took it back.
 
Our electric bill has always been around $190-250 a month. Yeh we have a lot of electronics. But in the past few months we have slowly switched all TV's to LCD's (4 tv's all together) They draw 100-140 watts per TV. Our previous TV was a 52" DLP. If you don't know what a DLP is, it's a high intensisty light projection TV. I don't know what the power draw was but it was enough to heat the living room.

We have also switch all our bulbs over to those energy effiencent spiral lights. We have done everything in the book to cut back on our energy bill and save money. It seems to be working.

But to insure my family with a decent health plan including dental will run me $700-800 a month. I should move to Canada and get that $110 deal. :awesomework:
 
Another one to put in his $.02

First, something few have brought up are the insurance companies. Something that baffles me in this discussion is the fact that insurance companies work in a conflict of interest to the people they cover. They make money by denying claims and ripping people off. I currenlty have health insurance, but in only pays 80% of my claims. and I'm paying ~$500/mo! its insane!

Health insurance MUST be non-profit in order for the general public not be screwed. As long as health care companies are ruled by insurance companies who are making a profit, WE will be screwed. And as long as the government is in the business of managing our health care for a profit, we will be screwed.

The only solution I see, is a system similar to schooling around the country. say what you will about our public school system, but it does work, and everyone has the right to schooling. Put it at the state level, helped out by the federal government.

If it was possible to setup non-profit community hospitals and non-profit insurance health savings plans, this would save everyone money and give good health care for all.

Unfortunately, I doubt any of this would ever happen. The government is in bed with insurance companies, and until this tie is broken no healthcare plan will work without screwing us.
