I don't think I'm your type. And I'm sure you're not mine.

Back on topic (after 11 pages). If this is a SERIOUS QUESTION, DO SOME RESEACRCH!!!!! Yes, a stock Birfield is a weak link when running over stock sized tires with any sort of differential locking device. There are upgraded aftermarket axles and knuckle parts galore for Toyotas AND Samurais.

Running only 2 bolts as a weaker link is a stupid idea!!!!! Sorry... but its true!

:awesomework:

Personally, I think Crashypoo is bored, made this guy up and is the troll of the trolls.

" tute ...... floot " :haha:

oh dear god, see what this thread has caused? The brain damage is spreading.

:hi:

Sorry Patricia but your way off base on that one....

In my travels I have heard of the birfield breaking described as a Fuse of sorts for the drive-train. evidently it is a weak point,

I have a crasy idea, move the fuse panel to where it is a bit easier to get to, take Two of the bolts out of the Frt companion flange, or may be just 1 and put the bolts in the glove box with a couple of wrenches,

Then the next time your out givin it hell instead of snapping a birfield you shear the bolts of the companion flange, crawl under you rig and put the spare bolts in and carry on rather then blowing your whole day reworking the infamous busted birfield.

maybee worth trying to play with,

Ive thought the same thing, farmers use them , A Hay bailer for example will shear a pin at a point before any shafts or gearboxes get broke ,so do boat props

I read a article of a company that makes axles for sandrails and they have a double flang set up and a couple soft bolts snap befor and tranny parts or ujoints, it has a shaft whinin a tube with bearings so nothing falls apart just the "butter bolts" give way, I like the idea,

heres a farm one

A built in weak link is JUST that. A weak link in the chain. I don't know about you but I prefer to have the strongest chain I possibly can and have the brain power to know when to say when.

FAIL you guys are on topic. :looser:

The best part is I that's exactly how it came out of the fryer. :redneck: I wish I'd have gotten a better pic of it but I snapped one off and sent it to peanut. :D

That pic is disturbing.. Are there any missing teens in your area?? :flipoff:

Day or so had passed when I popped the clutch, gave the tranny a spin and slid on into the Stinky Pinky Gulp N' Guzzle Big Rig Snooze-A-Stop. There I was browsin' through the latest issue of "Throb", when I saw Bambi starin' at me from the back of a milk carton. Well, my heart just dropped. So, I decided to do what any good Christian would. You can not imagine how difficult it is to hold a half gallon of moo juice and polish the one-eyed gopher when your doin' seventy-five
in an eighteen-wheeler. I never thought missing children could be so sexy. Did I say that out loud?
