Too high egt's?

so i put gauges on my 04 cummins before i did the programmer...i was shocked at the EGTs with the factory tune...it would fly right on by 1350 when towing...then i got a smarty...what a difference...when in tow mode i cant get it past 1200...ide let my woman take it over the pass fully loaded and not worry about her cooking it...cause the smarty wont let it happen....:awesomework:

1350 though?

if thats the case, why would 1250 be rule of thumb for meltdown?

Maybe thats why people say common rails melt...I would def. get a smarty knowing this

1250 was for the previous engines.. Cummins built the common rails to withstand more heat because of the emissions requirements.

I'm not entirely sure, 1300 sustained is a safe temp to stay under. It may be 1350 though. I will have to look. You ready for me to get you a SMARTY yet? :redneck:

I messed with the tire size now it seems like my truck is running like ****. and the speedo doesnt even register

Sell that damn edge on CL before it breaks! I have had 2 Juice modules go **** house and leave me removing them on the side of the road to get my engine running again.

Pretty easy on a Chebby but wouldn't want to find all those plugs on the Dodge w/o a flashlight:mad:

SMARTY jr is plenty safe. Better mileage, lower temps, more power. But not too much power that you have to start worrying about other things..

TS isn't really known for being the best. Decent, but for the price, you can certainly have better.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. So yeah everyone is saying sell the Edge for a reason. Sooner or later it will fail. At work when a Diesel comes in for a diagnostic problem. 9 out of 10 if it has a edge. I unhook it and problems go bye bye.
