Eye Surgery!!!

Well yesterday was the big day. I went in yesterday to get my eyes fixed! One scary ass procedure that is for sure. Ended up opting for the PRK(Photorefractive Keratectomy) version.

Essentially they sand down the top layer of your cornea and use a laser to make small changes to the shape of your cornea. Was only on the table for about 10 minutes total and each eye was only lasered for 10-12 seconds... WAS INSANE!

Yesterday I was in some pretty serious pain but seem to be feeling a LOT better today!

Can't wait for the final outcome!

Have any of you had this or LASIK done? How did it turn out for you?

not yet but one day I probably will. I have 2 diopters of astigmatism in both eyes. glasses are not an option for me. they distort the shape of things and ruin my depth perception.

prior to lasik i had the RKE done. same thing only using a knife. best money i have EVER spent.

the day after the surgery i could see and most importantly read everything. i could read the smalles digital closk in the VCR from across the room.

during night time i have glare issues when driving but i got some clear lens glasses with major glare reduction coating and have no issues even driving at night.

however you will still need reading glasses when you get older as i do now. my far vision is still great.

I had the lasik done 2 years ago in bellevue. It was quick and painless and when I went in for the 1 week check up afterwards I had 20/15 eyesite, after 6 months and everything was healed up I had 20/20. I am still at the 20/20 and love not having glasses that always get in the way. Now i just have to buy sunglasses all the time, I keep losing them.

I did... Just not here.. I have a lot of friends who have gotten this done with good outcomes. Just wanted to get a topic on here going...:kissmybutt:

This is where I'm at. It was great for about 2 years, then I noticed it fading and know I'll be back in glasses eventually but I'm fighting it since i love being without glasses/contacts so much. :booo:

If I could have afforded the lifetime enhancements that was offered here in the states, I'd have done that.

Yes, once you have the surgery your eyes are way more sensitive and I wear glasses even when most aren't.

I had it done in 06, was great for 3 years and now its fading. Can't see a thing close up w/o glasses. The doc said it would happen.

My left eye is fawked with like 20/60 vision, but my right eye is 20/20.

In fact Jacob I think they only charge per eye, that way if you dont need alk three done you pay less. The ex was looking into it and fingered this out.

Excellent! Now I just need to figure out if I can get it with my eye "condition"

As a side-note, I think I found out why my passenger side is straight on my rig, and my driverside is beat! Its all about the depth perception, I lack it in my left eye!:haha:

Just to clarify... Both use lasers... the difference is how they get through the cornea. Either via a Corneal Flap(lasik) or removal of the epithelium(PRK).

I had PRK to avoid having the corneal flap to deal with. I have a very high impact/dangerous job that wouldn't be kind to a flap.
